There is a big problem with the local Huawei support. The local Mate 9s are still on the security patch from launch, 1 Oct. Overseas there have been at least three updates that we haven't recieved.
Not only is this a security issue but the devise has a few quirks/bugs that are addressed with the updates and patches.
We just have to live with a device that feels unfinished and a bit rough. Why treat a market with this level of disdain?
I'm going to say this now, but Huawei have slipped up in this country over the last few years. From ads all over the place, dressing up malls etc, to now, where they just seem like they couldn't care less about their products.

I don't know who that random Car guy is, but he probably got the phone for free.

Rather not risk getting the P10. Worst thing would be stuck on Nougat when everyone else is on Oreo. :whistling:

Have to agree, not long ago Huawei in my eyes was poised to be Samsung's greatest threat here in South Africa, I was pretty sure they were looking too overtake Samsung, but in the last year they seem to have slowed down a lot.

I knew someone who worked at Huawei and at first it was exciting for her for the 1st 2years but all that died down this year and she left. I wonder if there was a change in management and if our worsening political climate has had anything to do with it.

I can tell you, that there were many Huawei employees who left. There were changes aplenty with them, up to a point where we haven't heard anything from them.

A few years back, they were number 2 behind Samsung, I would be surprised if they still are. We looked at market share numbers, and the likes of Mobicel, Hisense and a few other 3rd tier suppliers, have either surpassed Huawei, or have taken market share away from them.

Huawei sadly became greedy, where they use to give people affordable yet good phones, to now where they want to play only in the more expensive flagship devices.
