You will just click purchase (if you havnt done that already) and the game will be unlocked with some minor downloads on the 1st. There will be no activation code or anything. Simple decryption over Steam on the 1st.

There is still suppose to be a second part to the preload so dont know when thats happening, and if that will be on the release date, but that should be rather large.

Good grief - so I have to update the preload now!

yeah, I believe its the final part of the preload that is needed. Some maps and stuff are included I believe. Once this is done you are ready for the 1 June decryption.

Steam basically sends your computer a decryption code to decrypt the data as far as I understand.

It was 56 Megs, so shouldn't take too long. I think it started on 80-something % for me.

I'll wait for the verdict first - while it's pretty cool being able to preload a game before paying for it (assuming you have the bandwidth), buying before a review is highly risky.

I'm really hoping for a kick-ass SP experience, as I still play HL2 SP now - busy going through it for about the 5th time

Oh yeah - give Sin Episode 1 a HUGE miss, it's terrible, it really is. I don't know how Ritual still stays in business after releasing so many "bombs", the level design is just so old fashioned and looks fake when compared with HL2.
The models clipping paths are terrible - they are forever getting stuck in walls which just takes the realism away something rotten.

I'm hoping that HL2 episode 1 runs as good on my laptop as HL2 does - I'm amazed that I can play it at 1280x960 and the framerate is good enuff for it to be playable, considering this laptop only has a 64mb Radeon Mobility X600.

Alas, I will have to get my copy in the shops - STILL don't have credit in the UK, boo hoo ;( - no Master or Visa card

Odd my first card I got was Visa, albiet a debit card but the internet does not know the difference, I use it all the time still. I use LloydsTSB.
