10 Meg just to hear I am not connected ... !?!?!

Every once in a while when I try to connect my 3G on my laptop, it gives me after about 3 sec a "678" error, and then my "data transfered total" jumps by 10 meg. I was not even connected, and I tried it three times. Did I just loose 30meg of my 500meg cap by only "TRYING" to connect. Last month it happened twise, but then it jumped by 30 meg everytime!!

what is up with this !!!

What specs is your laptop and wot service pack you running? And any antivirus? Or your antivirus not trying to update? Or even your windows not trying to update when making a intial connection?

I have the latest updates for Win and Trend...

Dell Inspiron 7300 laptop...

The thing is, there is not even a connection yet, it is still starting to try and connect, then bombs out and adds +/- 10meg to my total, sometimes even 30meg .... :mad:

I have seen the same effect. Last night i disconnected 3G, but have left the Dashboard open, the next norning my usage was up a way cool 32Gb :) Would ave loved to download 32Gb in 5 hours :)

So am I correct it only shows on the "dashboard" and not windows netork connection? Has it come off your bundle or added to your usage? You can check .. may be VMC dashboard "doing-its-thing" with windows again....

Also can you say which card you got and the firmware version of that? May be the version... especially if it is a Novatel...

Erg, I have no idea what you just said ... :confused:

And also, while reading the FAQ I saw that there is a site where you can go and check you usage, but they ask for your phone number, and I did not get a phone number with the sim card that I am using. That space was just blank...

All sims do have a number, easiest way to check is to sms your normal number from the Vodacom VMC 'dashboard' that came with the data card.

Once you have your number, log into www.vodacom4me.co.za and you can see your actual usage as counted by the network. Remember 4me could be a few hours out.

Erg, it said I have only used 101meg so far of my bundle. Compared to the 184meg that the VMC says I have used .... :(

It also says I have only used 132meg last month, but VMC says I have used 260meg !!! :eek:

Verry weird, normally the dash will underread due to the logs lost if disconnects happen.

What version of the VMC dash and Windows do you use?

Load a 3rd party usage meter and use that to watch your real-time usage.

I have version 6.03.0003 of VMC.

My OS is Win XP Home SP 2 with all the latest updates I can find ...

A third party usage something something sounds very good ............. very good and very confusing ............ It sounds like I have to download something ......... :confused:
