R.I.P. AMD

Doubtful considering Intel chips are sluggish, run hot, over priced.

Further more SuperPI is a benchmark and unless you're buying chips to run geeky cyber pissing contests it really is pointless.

At home I run an AMD64 2800+ and at work a P4 3.2Ghz.

The Intel is slower, under performs in Photoshop, Flash and in general Windows XP environment. Switching between applications is slower then the AMD and once in a while it crashes.

Both systems have 1,5 Gb RAM DDR 400 and both systems have a Gainward 6600GT GFX card.

But lets see... AMD usually bring out a chip that is several generations ahead of Intel.

The new Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe) is going to spank AMD extremely badly. I hope AMD fires back but Conroe is one amazing chip. If AMD takes too long I might get one of them.

well lets see... if you're into 3D then getting the fastest chip available makes sense... for my kind of development i need something that swicthes between stuff easily and quickly and right now I find the average AMD out performs intel on speed and price.

but tables can turn very quickly.

the whole point of the post was to emphasize how much tables have turned ALREADY in intels favour.

p.s. if your 3.2ghz p4 is using ddr400 as you stated then I am santa claus
