100mpbs up/down Reasonable expectation for actual speeds?

Just got fibre through RSAWeb, 100mbps up and down, and I'm getting about 50mbps down and 85 mbps up on a 2013 Macbook pro (so with a good WiFi chip that can handle the faster transfer rates).

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Maybe a setting that needs to be changed. Is it possible that it is my ISP?

Ýou need to test with a network cable direct to the router. That's the way the fibre provider tests and the only thing they'll accept if you want to complain.

Ping: 13ms
Download: 96.13Mbps
Upload: 92.3Mbps

Just did this test using mbb speed test on my phone on mfn, but speeds on WIFI have so many variables, distance, line of sight etc

Depends on the router's wifi, the laptops wifi chip, how far you are away from the router, any possible interference on that frequency, any obstacles in the way and even how you hold the device. Test with a cable, using wifi is useless if you want to test line speed.

Not useless, just a really bad indicator of overall speed.

Wifi is very susceptible to environmental and atmospheric conditions and therefore has a significant portion of it's bandwidth available to make packet delivery as reliable as possible.
This means packet duplication, retransmission, collision detection and all the other things it does to make sure you get data.

Like everyone else said, plug your machine in with a LAN cable in order to get a true reflection of speed.
