i was wondering, if i get the said account, at what speed will i connect to the network if i have a 4096k line? the reason i'm asking is coz technically theres no 1024k in SA at the moment, and uncapped 1024k costs twice as much as 512k most of the time. so will the account be limited to 1024k or am i getting a sweet deal for a 4096k connection?

You'll probably be limited to 1024k. Uncapped accounts are priced based on speed, so if you had to get 4096k at the price of a 1024k, that means that they would have to lower the prices of other uncapped accounts by a factor of 4. Somehow I don't see that happening ;)

Your line speed might Sync at 4mbit (4096K) but your ISP controls what speeds you Download/Upload at.

So technically if you have a 4mbit line, and only 512K uncapped account. Your downloads will get speed of 50kb per sec +-. You won't see 60kb per sec.

The only upside will be , if you have 2 different pc's. and each pc connects to a different Uncapped account. Then each pc gets his own 512K Uncapped speeds. (4mbit line is good if you have it in a flat, and maybe 3 pc's sharing that line. With 2 uncapped and maybe another odd account )..

Hold on. If i have a 4mbit line and have a 1024k uncapped account, then I'll be limited to 1024k by the ISP right. Now what would happen if i put my router in bridge mode and let the pc / user connect from 2 or more stations. Would each one then get 1024?

They don't allow concurrent connections on uncapped accounts though.

@DjStyles : yes

I'm interested in whether the ISPs limit you to 512kbit (so on a 4mbit line you *SHOULD* get 64KB/s) or some manufactured (read lower) amount like 50KB/s.

All uncapped accounts only allow 1 concurrent. So you cannot let a 2nd pc dail in on the same username/pass
