When you say 10 Gig local (Total) Cap is that 10 gig local and international combined, or 3 gig international plus 10 gig local?

If that makes any sense [:)]

Where did you get the info?

If it is a 10gig total cap with no differentiaton between local and international I could live with that. That is about 340Mb per day, hard drive space then becomes the major cost factor rather than bandwidth. No Cap is better but this is a good compromise.

Cheers

this is telkom we are talking about... i SERIOUSLY doubt they will be increasing the international cap to 10gigs... but simply making a second cap on the local traffic. so things like nocap ect or other local proxies wont help anymore.

lets just say it comes from some people, being told to get ready to implement such a cap on the systems in a month or so.

if my source is wrong... then shoot me, but i have no reason not to trust it.

well - my sources indicate that this proposed 10Gig cap (3 Gig International and a total monthly cap of 10Gig) has been considered, but that not all the relevant decision makers support the idea.

If this is implemented, many more people will terminate their adsl service.

Will telkom ever learn?

This could also mean:

At 3GB total traffic we will route your local traffic as usual and international traffic via the excuse suitable for the courts if we get sued.

At 10GB total traffic, you will not be allowed a byte more of local or international bandwidth.

Can't wait for Sentech in my area!

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

Hah yes, I see your point.

And it will be implemented to protect the majority from less than 1% of users etc. etc...
No mention will me made of the fact that it was a move to deliberately shut down a small but potentially lucrative new market sector, and again eliminate competition.
They are determined to push us back into the dark ages.

Telkom is trying to create a "Buy another 2gig economy"

Go to www.telkomsucks.co.za, there is a war in he pipe line, users
ned to stick together and warn other people of using Telkom as
their ISP.

If you don't use Telkom as your ISP and you DON'T reset your router, you won't be capped.....for now.

Spread the word, everybody that is using Telkom as an ISP must move
to a private ISP? ...and we must all start wireless community clouds.
