With all the load shedding that we have, the lead acid batteries tend to die relatively quickly, especially with repeated daily load shedding slots. Am looking for longer lasting 12v 7/8ah LI batteries to replace the LA ones that we currently have. I know there were some on Takealot, but they seem to have since disappeared except for one from Uniross which is a brand I don't recognise at all.

Uniross has been making rechargable batteries for ages.. sold by almost every retailer that stocks rechargable batteries..

Not sure how you could have not seen them at all..

The Blue Nova batteries are still listed on Takealot

I have three of these , they just work and have built in protection so safe .
Price has gone up now that we have load shedding i bought at just over R700 .
Shop around may be you can get them cheaper or with free shipping .

I just bought one from Takealot to see. Two week turnaround time so if it works well I'll pick up a couple more (hopefully when they drop in price).

Also available on Leroy Merlin website. Available at ACDC Express stores I heard. Also Communica.

Physical stores are good if you plan to use them in series (like in my UPS) as you must match batch numbers or somesuch according to Blue Nova when using in series.

Lithium Ion batteries like the Blue Nova will be fine for alarms, etc, but might not be great for things like gates. Gate motors pull 8-10A, and the Blue Nova's max rating is 7.2 burst. So a bit close.

Painless drop in replacement? I have one unused and was eyeing it to replace the dud in my old 360VA UPS. No worries on charge profiles etc? I am worried to leave it unattended.

Already ordered one of these from Takealot. Also going to pick one up from a local supplier since one of batteries at home is basically kaput from all this load shedding.
hopefully you guard your batteries with your life, as with the load shedding going on, these batteries are hot property.

Not sure who AGM are? I've been to Communica before so going to pick up one unit from there today. Don't mind waiting for the other unit to come through Takealot since I had other things as part of that order. Only annoyed I wasted about R100 buying it through Takealot :/

Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Technology

AGM or Absorbent Glass Mat is an advanced lead-acid battery that provides superior power to support the higher electrical demands of today’s vehicles and start-stop applications.
