Hi guys. This is a brand new hard drive, however, it has been sitting in storage for about 3 years. Unopened, still in the box, still in it's anti static etc. I bought this and then got myself an SSD shortly after so just shelved this. Anyway the SSD has packed up and I remember this in my cupboard so dug it out. Installation of windows went fine, all smoothly however it hangs every few minutes so I ran a hard drive test.

So this red dot is causing me some headaches. AOMEI reports the following. Is there any way to fix this red dot of annoyance!? :X3:

Do an fdisk then a full format..

If all else fails I will revert to this; some type of low level hard format type thing. May need to ask you guys to run me through that.

If that also does not work then in 2000 years from now some poor archeologist can dig it out of a landfill and give it a crack :p

google spinrite snake oil
Couldn't really care about a few opinions.

10GB hdd was fkd. Did a Spinrite on it for about a day and a half. Since it's a slow process. HDD working and booting properly afterwards.

That strike 2 on hard drive specials from Takealot. First one was a sumsung externl 2TB. Plugged it in and immediately started that ticking sound. Brand new drive vrekked. Don't think I will be buying from them again.

same with me, sent it back and got another, that's how it is until you find a working properly unit.
Hard drives can be finicky sometimes.
