Karabo Matlali is a senior in high school with her sights firmly set on medical school next year. Oh, I should probably mention, she's only 14!

Spirits are high as I chat to Karabo and her mom, Lindiwe Matlali, via Zoom. With camera's blacked out, my senses are leaning in closely to their voices. It's a conversation filled with laughter, but also a lot of "oohs and aahs" from my side.

Why wouldn't I be filled with wonder? I'm in the presence of a child genius, I tell myself. My mind automatically draws me to a character from one of my favourite sitcoms - The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper. Again, joy breaks out as I make the confession.

Please use the non-amp link:

I honestly have no idea what that means but thanks.

Oh, never mind, because I am also a genius I managed to figure out what you are talking about. I could swear it was just a News24 link when I posted it, it's one of those instances where things just jump in front of you.

A senior at Arizona State University's high school, Karabo does all her learning online.
She studies online. I am thinking in today's world this is the way to go. Kids are super confident and don't learn the fear of the point of school is obedience, shutting up, avoiding embarrassing situations in front of kids, and avoiding being scolded by teachers.

The cost of learning at school with sub-par teachers vs you choosing the best online educators. The choice is simple really. The Internet has changed everything. And now after Covid overseas universities have adapted and teaches classes online so you can basically be wherever you want in the world.

The traditional schools will become a place for parents who are lazy and are looking for babysitters.
