My dad said he was troubled by his thoughts of what he wanted to do to the savage. In the end he couldn't even sleep. I am quite clear in my mind what I would do to him and I doubt I would have to much guilt about it.

If I ever get involved in a situation that requires such action it remains to be seen if I could actually do it though.

Well what else does one expect when :
- voilence and bad guys are portrayed in the media (TV + movies) as cool
- when moral standards are scoffed at because we've ascended beyond the realm of religion to the realm of logic where there is no objective truth and hence no right or wrong
- when family values and parenting have gone down the tube (making money is more important than raising kids and spanking is frowned upon)

But no ... people claim that civilization is improving.
Maybe we're improving on the technology front but there seems to be major decay when it comes to human character and what society accepts as being ok.
It's going to get a lot worse.
Thank goodness I have hope but it's not in this world getting any better.

Things were really bad centuries ago but somewhere in the last century I think civilization hit its peak.
What we're seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg.
