After three consecutive 17" machines I'm going to give the 15" a shot this time around.

What's the battery life like between the two models?

I was thinking the 15" might last longer due to a smaller screen but then I also thought the 17" probably has a bigger battery...

From what I recall after someone made some pretty [-]ridiculous[/-] extraordinary claims about MBP battery life the 17" did have the edge. 7 vs 8 hours.

Just looked at the Apple website and the 15" has a 74W/hr battery vs a 95W/hr on the 17" with the figures you mentioned. So it will also by a physically bigger battery.

That little timer will tell you that there are 7 hours hours when fully charged, but I think it runs on an accelerated time scale :whistling:

They've got the room so why not. :)

Apple is usually pretty accurate with the estimated battery lives they publish.

One mans "junk" ...........

So I had a bit of an oopsie this morning and find myself seeking a new MBP.

WHAT are you going to do with the "oopsie" ?????

I have amazing wizards that can fix ANYTHING on a laptop.

Fortunately they only work according to my commands :)

SO if you are thinking of tossing it -- just toss it this way :D

Why? Dont you like photography? That's just crazy talk.

Why yes I do, it unfortunately comes second to my main occupation though -- in that occupation Windows dominates and trying to be different just leads to difficulties:)

LOL, is it not by people so many trying to be different/individual or doing their own thing that are all conforming anyway? Just a thought!!

Conforming to nonconformism?

Did The Man tell you to ask that?

No ... who is he?
Keeping up appearances eh? :D

Thinking about it now I wish I could get by with the 13" but apart from the smaller screen the graphics might be a bit underpowered considering, since my acquisition of the canon 7D, I'm adding video to my repertoire.

Is video processing ram or graphics card intensive -- I ask because many photog think they need a good graphics card for PS work -- I believe that the reality is that one will benefit alot more by having more ram and a better processor than an expensive graphics card. I have never looked into video work so I dont know about that line of work.

Aperture, and Snow Leopard on the whole, makes good use of the GPU.

The cheapest 13" and 15" Macbook Pros are the best value, even though they only have a 9400M, it's still a good graphics card for photography.

How well does Aperture 3, in particular the video editing, run on it?

By it I mean the 15" with the 9400M - 13" is too small for editing photos.
