I've been saving up for these wheels for some time now...

then I browsed Autostyle to find this...

http://www.autostyle.co.za/prodview...d=alloys 18 inch&pg=1&showall=&brandstr=&str=

This is an exact replica of the R18 000 original!!!

Thing is I'll have to hear if they have 5x100 as 147 has 5x98 and normaly 5x100 also fits...most of the time!

Anyway, I've wanted the wheel for the look, not the name, why then is the wheels so similar in looks but in monetary value its waaaay diferent!

What do you guys think?

Original:

I'm thinking of spraying it gloss black - it will go nicely with my Alfa red 147!:p

You would honestly pay R18000 for a set of mags for your car?...

Are you mad?

Get the originals or get something else.

PS he is not mad, some people have different likes/interests.
Peeps on this forum have no issue paying 18k for laptop on which they can play games like WoW, this guy might think those guys are nuts!

e'Yes baba!

yep, I would...worth it! Dude people spend hundreds of thousands on cars. It's like sailing or biking, its a hobby we all develop, like ALL hobbies, you really have to rethink prices like 18k!!!

I was saving towards the wheel but always had the sneaky suspision that it would come up cheaper someday.

Like the other day I saw a G5 GTi with 19" BBS CH on, I asked the guy how much he paid, he said he'll give it to me for 15k...see...3k less. LOL:)

Anyway, would you say the Autostyle one looks at least as good as the original, totally out of this worls overpriced wheel?:erm:

Check the price for 19", then check tyre prices.

Generally even numbered diameter tyres are pricey, odd numbers much cheaper. You will probably get wheels and tyres in 19" for the same as 18, and next time you need tyres, you're ahead. Plus bigger is better.

i love those rims. last time i checked they were R30k for 5/120. my concern is the quality of the rep. cos they also keep the CSL and Schnitzer reps. will they buckle easily? how do they compare weightwise? can one trust the specs of the rep supplier anyway? I am therefore hesitant to get those reps until my concerns are put to rest.

I dig black mags on red Alfa's. I saw a black 156 a while ago. It had the standard alloy mags (5 big circles) but the seats where red leather. Very cool.

Can you spray mags though? Will the paint stick properly?

not necessarily. your ride quality could really be an issue. i have read posts of ppl that had to switch bad to 18"s at a huge loss.

but also shop around for the tyres. i was quoted about R2k per tyre for 18"s about a month ago:eek: not sure what the Toyo prices are like now for 18"s

Nope, autostyle one doesnt look that great. Do they also sell knock-off/real bbs caps to fit the wheel? Else you know you gonna have those dodgy caps and it will look stupid.

they do look good but black makes the wheel look smaller apparently:(

have them done professionally. check the ads in SNS mag. but it can be pricey. they may have to remove the lacquer first.

Dude, I have my concerns as well. But it is concerns that will cause a man to spend more than he should on the very same product. LOL - look at Tein coilover suspension and KW spring sets...made in the same factory, an American Magazine exposed this by chance when they visited the KW factory...its all label and no other difference HOPEFULLY!

FOr R4999 plus tyres I'm probably looking at 8k...but its better than R20k plus!!!

I'm really leaning towards this wheel from Autostyle...

Oh yes you can paint the wheels...but to be safe we powdercoat them, heat it for a couple hours then its all set...GLOSS BLACK!

I fully understand different tastes/interests etc but I am with Toxic on this one! ;)

For R18,000 you get a laptop that has a lot more than one which cost R5,000.
With wheels, as the OP himself has shown, you can get the exact same look for R5,000 as you would for R18,000!

And they serve the exact same purpose as the ones that are already on the car!

White walls !! Yes yes. I know you want them!

Same for lots of local clothing. Fabiani jackets and suits are made in the same place in CPT as many cheaper brands. The only difference is the label in many cases.

I think I'll take my time...save some more and then by end of the year - as planned, I'll have more than enough to shop arround and maybe get a cheap orriginal set or just get this set instead from Autostyle and have money left to powder coat it!!!
