I have a good scan of my ID book, made lots of certified copies and have a friend who will certify more for me if needed.
I have a good scan, but don't have such a good friend.

So what is the process if I "lost" my current ID book? Will they issue a new ID card based on a certified copy of the old one? Or do I need a birth certificate?

Certified date should not be older than three months. I do not know why but that's what they enforce mostly.

What he does is, he certifies them, but just leaves the date off.
Then I just fill in the date when I need one.
