Hi Guys, need some info. I know the petrol price is high but on the same note the litres and tank size remains the same. My 4afe motor is heavy on fuel, I get like 450-500kms on a full tank. Car is serviced regularly however I wanna know after how many kms should the car warm up cause my idle sits on 1000rpm or above when car idles after doing more than 30kms. Very rarely it will sit under. Can that be the cause of fuel deficiency?

How long have you had the car and what modifications (maybe the exhaust) have you done?
How many km did you get before and what possibly changed ?

My Corsa lite idles between 1000 and 1200rpm at start up and settles at 1000rpm. I thought it was odd since most cars idles below 1000rpm but the car manual says this is the correct idle speed for this particular engine, it is also far from being economical however there is nothing can do since the idle speed cannot be set manually.

Check if there aren't any loose vacuum hose In the engine bay, they can cause such issues.

My 2001 20v gives about the same mileage. So it seems to be average these era Toyota's seem to like open road more where I get up to 650km on a tank.

My one I had, had branches and free flow exhaust, I think used to get 6.5l per 100km

You can get over 700km on a tank, depending if on coast or reef.
If it's an auto then all bets are off.

I would do:
1) Replace PCV valve.
2) Replace air filter.
3) Check timing and CO

Do these basic things first then try to identify specific issues (e.g. vacuum leaks etc).
Is your exhaust stock? Those tend to detiorate after a while and should be replaced with a newer freer flowing one.
