Just a correction. 500Rand is when you work in South Africa and pay for the line in America! A absurdity I know. The living standard in the States is about 3x higher then in South Africa. Therefore, the real amount the Americans are having to pay, is the equivalent of only 160Rand !ng to pay, is the equivalent of only 160Rand !

1Gbps lines have been in Sweden for at least 5 years for a decent amount 60-70 Euro back when i checked it 3 years ago.

I think Finnish law states that every person (in Finland) has a basic human right of a minimum 100mb internet connection

I know europe is way ahead of america when it comes to FTTH or FTTB.
problem with america is everyone just wants to make money, in europe people want advance and overall speeds ^^.
its nice to see other things like google and and now these guys getting out there and showing what is possible with todays technology.
