For me it’s all about enabling free time.

I don’t camp…I just buy the stuff so that they can.

Then I have peace and quiet and modernity all to myself.
 
So much for a Christmas present, they just notified me stock is only likely to arrive in January.

Still a good deal so no going to cancel it, might just need to make a fake box. :ROFL:

I'm more than a bit annoyed because they stated clearly there was stock and now changes their tune.

But I'm giving them a hard time because now it states some stores have the stock...so then why can't you source it from there.
 
Glad for this thread, helped me decide on the S20 for the wife who has wanted one for years for our holiday flat. The R2K difference between the S20 and S20 plus is not significant enough to justify the extra cost.

Getting it online at IC for R3999 (also on TAL for same price).
 
I was going to buy the S10+ around black Friday, and just before committing I saw the s20+ for the same price.

Bought it.

It is honestly the bees knees. I've never had a robot vacuum before and this thing has honestly impressed me.

My parents and I have just moved into a house. It's absolute chaos inside. Crap and boxes everywhere.

The house is so big and awkwardly laid out that I've had to create multiple maps and for two of the maps I have to take it there, because the base station is still inaccessible.

The smarts when it comes to mapping and obstacle avoidance is absolute top notch. It even knows where the stairs are and it doesn't jump to it's death.

In hindsight I think the x20+ with the big self emptying base station would have been a better buy. But I didn't want to blow all my ebucks on one thing.

The battery lasts quite a while. I can trust the thing not to get stuck. The dirt box thing is a tad small. I do think a bigger one would have been nice. And because we have so much tile around the house, I let it mop.

The only real admin is emptying the dirt, topping up the mop water, and making sure no cables are lying around.

I am very happy with the Xiaomi and it's really exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend it.

Did you end up getting one? I see in Cape Town, only one store has stock according to the website. Testing the "set one aside" feature, but no response on that yet, granted it was over the weekend.

Have one of the very early Xiaomi vacuum robots still. Over 5 years old I would say. Replaced the battery earlier this year.
Cleaned it out properly multiple times. It have done a dog poop runover a couple of times, which was a **** job but none the less it always kept on working again.

Yesterday, it threw this error for the first time ever.

This one is new to me. But its very clear, when you start it, the usual suction noise you hear is not there. So that fan is not turning on. I guess it will need a proper look over again...but uncertain if I will get that fixed.

It is a lidar non-mop version, worked mostly great. Only issue, the map resets every clean, so it never supported map editing. House had to be always prepped for the clean in the morning. Other than that, it has actually served me great for years. Just over 5 I'd say, maybe 6 but I think its 5.

Anyways, received an email that an x20+ was set aside for me at the yuppie shop. Will probably go pick it up.

That’s really ****ing annoying as a long standing customer because I asked them to do the same and was told there isn’t stock.

Now I just checked myself and there is after all so just threw my toys.

Going to be absolutely laughable if I go there and buy one directly only to be refunded online.

Cavendish?

Clearly the Mr.Price influence has now ****ed Yuppichef exactly as expected.

I first had to tell the online lady where their own stock is...after I confirmed there is in Cavendish on their own website and over the phone.

Then they can't just "re-direct" the order there, they literally need to cancel my online one and issue a voucher to the store and "purchased" it on my behalf for collection.

Now I fully expect a **** up when I go collect on Friday, but at least I have a proper invoice for the new order in hand.
