Give him a chance. He is a good player with heaps of potencial.
I agree, he has heaps of potencial but to make it at this level he's going to need heaps of potential so pack your bags my boy...:p

Just watched the "highlights" on Blitz and it looks like Van Jaarsveld did everything he could to lose us that match. Nerves most certainly got the better of him - why on earth does he drop to the ground when taking a catch? Grab it by the handles, Vaughan - or just use your teeth next time. And you need some fitness training as well, fatboy...

Fixed that for you because i have not seen anyone who is a spelling and gramma nazi say boi.

Some people just have a bad first match, its how they cope afterwards that will define their career.

DJ i can bet that oke is 20x fitter than you are :), just the way he is built means people are cruel and call him fanboi.

Gibbs really does not seem to want to apply himself!

Anyway, Kallis is looking good.

145/3 after 34.5

34.5 Hilfenhaus to Kallis, OUT, gone, and the man to get! Kallis chases a wide delivery and picks out David Hussey at backward point, who doesn't have to do much to pouch the aerial cut
JH Kallis c DJ Hussey b Hilfenhaus 72 (102m 96b 5x4 0x6) SR: 75.00

158/4

36.1 Hilfenhaus to de Villiers, 1 run, OUT, AB trips and he's gone! Hilfenhaus pitches on the stumps, AB shuffles and taps the ball just wide of midwicket and harries off down the track, he gets the first in good time but stumbles as he turns back for the second, still he continues sprinting and dives full stretch but a good flat throw from Harris comes back to Haddin in time, that was a terrific throw and well taken too
AB de Villiers run out 44 (78m 62b 2x4 0x6) SR: 70.96

Albie got in too late....

It's not that, it's the fact that the Aussies learnt from the 1st ODI when we plundered all those runs during the batting power play. They brought Haddin up to the stumps and Bracken bowled yorkers on the 'wide' line. Even Morkel flung his bat at one that would have been wided.
SA, and Bouch in particular couldn't adjust which puzzles me. Yes Haddin was up to the stumps so Boucher and Duminy to an extent couldn't charge the bowlers but couldn't Boucher take a different 'stance' now and then? Even the commentators picked it up and said Boucher should move around to throw the bowler off. With him just anchored on the same place ball after ball, all Bracken had to do was hit the wide line every ball and he did it perfectly.

Hopefully the coaches will pick up from that, like the Aussies did and come up with a plan for the next game.
btw, I see the next game is only next Friday

Yes. That is a big problem for me. :)

The margin of victory has been a few balls in both matches so far - this has been really close stuff!

(I don't want to jinx it, but) We have lost the choke reflex that we used to have against the Aussies. For sure, we lost today - but our history of losing to the Aussies includes so many examples of us choking in spectacular fashion, and that certainly didn't happen now.

We didn't lose it in the powerplay/final overs. We scored enough there. We lost it because ab and kallis were too slow in the middle overs. If they are going to take that approach one of them have to bat throught the 50 overs.

Another tactical error was sending mckenzie ahead of boucher and albie. In this situation he should have come after them.

That had to be the dumbest move I have seen from SA. Take a batsmen who is notoriously slow and send him in when the rate is over 8 to the over.

I also think that taking the power play in the 45th over to Bracken was a mistake. They should have waited 1 over and they would have won. They only got 4 off the Bracken over in any case.

Catches win matches... I say nothing more...
Precisely, that's the first thing you learn at club level. The fact that we got to within 5 runs is a great achievement, however Oz should have been bundled out for a lot less.

The problem is when a guy drops a catch, it puts more pressure on the next guy to take a catch, and because of that he might drop it too. How van Jaarsveld and McKenzie can get away with dropping catches with such frequency is beyond me.

So you suggesting that he should be sent in AFTER Boucher? LoL
