Hopes to van Jaarsveld, OUT, caught! Hopes bowls a length ball angled into the left-handers pads, van Jaarsveld hits the ball in the air towards midwicket but he's placed it straight to White who takes a comfortable catch at head height VB van Jaarsveld c White b Hopes 12 (15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Damnit, well duminy is still there and he looks in good nick.

Edit:

10.4 Hopes to Duminy, 2 runs, full ball on leg and middle, Duminy leans across and flicks the ball through square leg, that's his 50, off only 31 balls, well played!

Well played.

I do not know why they play that shot.... im sure there are "easier" shots to play.

Indeed. I reckon we are one of the best countries at that shot. But it is not worth it. Duminy was going along really well without it.

:(

Aw well.

Ps What would you guys' team look like for the ODIs?

Mine would be

Gibbs
De Villiers
A. Morkel
Duminy
Kallis
Van Jaarsveld
Boucher
Steyn
M. Morkel
Ntini
Botha (if I could however i would change him with Roelf Vd Merwe from the Titans and make AB or Boucher Cappie)

PS I think Botha is useless.....

Ya, tragic first 3 wickets. Well done to Duminy though. Too bad you need a chain to make the anchor effective.

Bring on Tuesday!

Agree with you there, not about Botha being useless but that vd Merwe should get a chance. 2 solid seasons of death block hole bowling, i saw him at the Hong Kong sixes as well and he was a standout, and of cos his batting is a bonus

I'd drop Ntini in favour of someone like Nel. I saw Nel batting in the MTN ODI Domestic championship and bloody hell, I mistook him for a number 6 batsman. His bowling is not too bad either. :p Ntini as usual is very very predictable, very linear and little to no variety.

Albie Morkel seems like he just needs one good knock to get into the swing of things. Same goes for Gibbs. Duminy, well his batting speaks for itself.

The rest of team all deserve their places in the side. Can't help but think that we really missed Smith's presence at the wicket today.

Ah well, hopefully we pull ourselves straight for the next T20.

Botha is horribly useless. I've never understood his inclusion, let alone captaincy. He's hardly a world-class spin bowler and is certainly not there for his batting talents. Replace him with an actual cricketer please. Him and Paul Harris are nothing more than liabilities in the team, but thankfully Harris isn't in the short form squad.

Great knock from JP Duminy. Was a terrific innings. I thought his LBW decision was sliding down leg though. We just needed stability up front and we would have taken them. I suspect Herschelle will prove a point on Tuesday. And Albie for that matter. It's such a pity that he is considered merely a pinch hitter in all forms of the game. It damages what could be a fantastic average and destroys any possible inclusion in the test team. He's a talent we should be nurturing, not taking advantage of...

I can't help but think that if we had batted first, we would've seen some good knocks from the top order. Chasing under pressure in front of a massive crowd did our batsmen no good really.

At this level of the game we should be able to provide stability at the top regardless of where we're playing. We showed we can do it batting second in the test series'. However Gibbs got out to a corker of a delivery. Him and AB were the only batsmen who didn't get themselves out. I disagree with the commentators that it struck Gibbs outside the line - it hit him on the back foot between middle and leg - he was plum. And that AB delivery was ferocious.

Kallis was plain stupid. At a time when we needed stability (knowing that we have the hitting power to score at 10 an over for a good 4 or 5 overs) he waltzes down the track and tries to whack it for six. Not a smart move and it only served to place all the other batsmen under extreme pressure. Which makes Duminy's knock all that more special. We needed one solid partnership at the top of the order and the outcome could have been very different. But should've, could've, would've means nothing now. Lets hope we take a few positives out of this match and take it to the Aussies on Tuesday. To reach 120 odd with nobody else but Duminy firing just goes to show how dangerous we can be if just 3 or 4 batsmen find some 20/20 form...

Where's Loots Bosman? Kallis isn't a 20/20 player, doesn't suit his game, well documented and well known fact. I would open with Loots...

I must admit, I much prefer to listen to the Aussie commentators these days. They have so much more energy and bring more excitement to the game than a boring Keppler comment. We really do struggle with decent commentators these days. I miss the blunt attitude of Pat Symcox. Robin Jackman fills that role to an extent but his demeanour comes across as someone who is about to fall asleep at his mic more often than not.

The Aussies have some great characters in the box with Gilly and Warne who give credit where it's due. The old Channel Nine commentators are out and the new boys are in. They're a lot more entertaining. I'm watching the Dolphins beat the Eagles at the moment and I'd sooner listen to a Jacaranda news broadcast from 1987. I wish they played more local one dayers at midnight so I could cure my insomnia once and for all...
