I think we stuffed now, why is it when we lose wickets we lose like 2-3 quickly instead of losing one every 70 runs?

One falls another 2 follow him quickly.

thats more a cricket thing in general than just a us thing. hence the saying 1 brings 2 brings 3.

Crikey, Siddle has a hit-me face.

+1 :D

Would not advise him to visit any local bars, he might not have that same face for long :p

Damn but our tale is a tad long, wonder if they will change the team a bit for the next test.

I think our coaching of the subtleties is generally below par. Our talent pools are very good, but our players rarely live up to their potential.

1)Even with smiths incredible record, it took him forever to improve his fishing for the ball problem.

2)Kallis either goes within himself, or outright gun hoe.

3)We persist with bowling leavable balls.

4) Years of having a million batsmen (all rounders) made our batters feel they didnt need to win the game themselves because there was always another guy in the wings. Things have improved since our tale shortened oddly enough. But i was always annoyed we didnt use our batting strength more when we had a short tale.

Think back to Klusener's heroic batting to save games in the 99 world cup. The reason we are the best team to never win a world cup is because as individuals we don't go about things very professionaly. I don't think any team in the world has got themselves out of jail as many times as we have. But then you have to ask the question, why with all our player quality do we find ourselves in jail so often. There seems to have never been a worldcup without "high drama".

South africa's cricketing motto: "Snatching victory from certain defeat"

It should be: "We come, we crush, we leave" <--- kinda what the aussies normally do

I could go on and on with other obvious problems. I think our coaching isnt very good. We need more specialist help. We play way below our potential.

Nope:eek:

What did I miss? I judged by his strike rate.

307/6....

then how do you judge what instructions Duminy got when he went out there? :)

I can promise you that none of the batsmen were told to either play for a draw or a win, more likely that they were told to play every ball as it comes or by the half hour / hour / session or whatever. That is if they were given any instructions at all seeing as they are all professionals and now exactly what they should do.

Wait so you dont know either?

Im sure they told him to stay in there... and stick it out.
If you think theres no tactics and they just playing over for over then you wrong!!
They are all constantly updated with what needs to be done, Ill be very surprised if they not.............

They told him to play for a draw just like the last match.

Once again we are going to get a hiding for playing it safe :), look we are South Africa and we bat slow and block alot so we don't lose, we cannot understand why this tactic is not working!!!

Heads must start rolling because this is just not on!!!!!!!!! We are not even making the aussies sweat or putting up a fight, the aussies have a weakish team if you ask me and they are making us look like bloody Zimbabwe.

i'm watching the game.

Why would the coach/captian constantly need to tell them what to do? there's a scrorecard? surely they can see what needs to be done? the batsmen in the middle talk to each other they dont just stand out there like robots and bat.

And the coach/captain cant tell them what to do with each ball. Of course they will have a general strategy/tactics, but you still have to play what you get in front of you.

And yes, of course they weren't told to NOT stick it out, that much should be obvious.

Wonderbob at the rate we are going we may as well go and try that, might actually do better considering most fielders are inside the ring :)

I guess maybe this whole blocking and still being mauled and made to look zimbabwe is better than trying to smash every ball :)

Damn negative BS, keep the runs ticking over, get out that shell and try to win games.

would make sense if we were playing a one day on a standard one day pitch, but we are not. Its a Test match on a day five pitch with guys bowling at 145km/ph. just does not work that way.

Nice to see someone knows something about the difference between ODI and Test.

Lol no "Wonder"

Ive played the game and even on school level theres tactics on what to do.
Do you watch any sport? They all have it.
Did you watch the 03 Semi final when there was communication between the dressing room and the players albeit incorrect info about DL?

Im sorry but you must be a real fool to think the batsmen go out there and just play.
Especially now when the game lies in what the tail enders do, surely they need to be fed on the situation of the game...

What do you think the batsmen chat about between overs, does the 12th man just take drinks to the players??? NO!!
Whta do you think was the topic of discussion during lunch???

They analysisnt the game and what needs to be done, every batsmen out of the change room will have a game plan and pass it on to the batsmen at the crease, I dont believe youve never seen this or even thought about it.
