McGain's making a name for himself here.

IPL will be beating down his door soon.

We know he was injured. The point is how can the vice captain be dropped after recovery and somebody like Mckenzie retains his place. Morne Morkel came straight back into the squad after injury - so did Boucher and Smith. If SA wins this match, does it mean that Smith should be dropped?

I didnt drop him, but thats what happened. Mac is from KES we know how those KES boys love eachother so Smithers probably included him over Prince.

Prince is doing very well, another test player being classed as to slow...
A batsmen is a batsmen and should adapt to any form of the game, I would like to see him back in the ODI game.

@killadoob.... Just out of interest, what would consider a good enough strike rate to qualify for the ODI team?

For a new player over 83% (5 runs an over)

For a guy who played more that 200 odi's already (like Kallis), it can be a bit lower.
(Run rates were slower 10 years ago

agreed, the reason i ask is because yesterday Prince was batting at a strike rate of nearly 85%, granted he has now slowed down, but it just goes to show that he can do it.

Kallis is currently battling along at a 60% strike rate.

Off the first 30 deliveries Kallis had 3 - strike rate 10
Next 35 deliveries he got 36 - strike rate 103.
Total: 65 deliveries; 39 runs; strike rate 60.

Khan looks good, good footwork, but looks a bit suspect against the spinners.

He faced less than one over from McGain:rolleyes:

Yeah Khan's a lemon, should persist with McKenzie, can't field either...

He has the potential to be exciting and a long term player.

At least he knows where his off stump is and which balls to leave...something required of every opener but McKenzie had no idea about.
He also knows how to evade short balls...something which Smith and Kallis seem to have forgotten...hence they will always be peppered with the stuff and pushed back, whereas Khan won't.
Kallis was at a loss against the quicks, and for those raving his strike rate, he milked 32 of his 39 pre tea from McGain, with a few more from MacDonald.

Not sure why Ponting didn't keep the quicks bowling...of the 108 in the session, 47 came off 5 overs from McGain and 11 off MacDonald's last two overs...so only a further 50 off 21 overs

McGain is getting murdered!

Kallis is 62 off 83 balls, 52 of those runs are in boundaries!

Code:
BE McGain 10-2-93-0
LOL, so close to becoming the next Mick Lewis :D

It is not about your strike rate as such to be honest, i have seen kallis destroy many a odi game by coming out and getting badly bogged down.

All you need to do in odi is keep the board ticking over, kallis has changed his style in the last year after getting alot of stick for his slow ways. Kallis is one of the world best batsmen without doubt but he can slow our run rate down alot. I think at the moment kallis is in a transition as he is not used to scoring this fast, if he can figure out how to score fast and rotate the strike he could become the most deadly batsmen in all forms of the game.

I would go as far as to say in some odi's the opposition would rather kallis be at the crease :)

Great innings by prince, think he just cemented the opening spot :).

Prince out for 150. Controversial decision though as nothing appeared on the hot spot.

Looked like it may have brushed the glove, at a stretch. Referral umpire has to be convinced though and not even the commentators were convinced of anything. Ah well - great innings from Prince. Now Kallis needs to follow suit and AB chip in as well - we've got a great platform to win this match now...
