Well gibbs has not been batting all that poorly, he has been getting 20-30 runs just failing to kick on, he has looked really good until he goes out, this has been coming and i would rather have gibbs in the team than anyone else to be honest.

He is pure genius and wins big matches. There are other batsmen should he fail.

It was VERY good to hear him say that he has found a renewed energy for this game and that he found it hard to contain himself when batting. Today he played himself in slowly and once he saw off the new ball, it was always gonna be hammer time.

Agreed. Gibbs is a match-winner, when he comes off. I would always have Gibbs in my team. Four out of five times he's going to score <30, but every so often, like today, he'll pitch up and score a century or 6x6 or whatever.

Other batsmen need consistency, but Gibbs brings something else to them team. I can think of few other batsmen (Sehwag, Gayle) that can have the same effect on the game.

Imo gibs's problem is his shot selection, he has to many shots to play by far one of the most talented batsmn in SA cricket, he could have had better stats if he kept his temperament under control imo.

No for me there are 3 guys that stick out massively(below), nice thing about gibbs is when he does go for 20 or 30 he has not taken 50-60 balls most of the time so we have a decent start :p

Well to the boys. Was never worried during our bowling innings, knew we had their number the moment we got over 300.

Not really stefan i was very worried man, big score and hitting botha badly. I actually thought in that period the aussies where the favourites. Then the collapse but they worried the kuk out of me and i am sure the South Africans had it on their mind as well.

Normally when the Auzzies (or any side) get a start on us like they did today, I get worried but today I didn't feel it. Our side looked like they were there to win it and I really do feel as though our previous "choker" stigma is a thing of the past.

So much depth in our side now that's really making the oposition think twice. I remember back to this time last year when I was anticipating the series in Aus toward the end of the year...Aus was a towering pillar of strength, a brick wall! Now, although they're a bloody good side and never to be underestimted, it's a bit of a different story methinks.

I do not think the aussies area good side, so many okes out of form and they have a serious lack of bowling talent, couple that with bracken being off form you have serious issues. This is by far the worst aussie team i have ever seen. Not taking anything away from us but we are showing how poor they are and i am so disappointed we threw the test series away because we are a much better team and i have a feeling the aussie cricket domination is a thing of the past as they have no talent coming through. We on the other hand have so much talent it is unbelievable.

If Aussieland had Brett Lee in their team it might have been a totally different story.

Not the way he has been bowling since his marriage went down the drain. Hasn't been the same bowler he was for the last year and got smacked in india and didn't look better vs us in the tests in aus.

Well done to SA:) Great job by Gibbs, AB and Duminy at the end:).

I was a bit worried when the Aussies posted a century opening stand:eek: But, then our spinners totally destroyed the Aussies:D Steyn also delivered an excellent display with the ball once again getting some key wickets and wrapping up the tail:).

Newbie Roelof van der Merwe has been sensational as Botha's spin bowling partner. Gibb's got a well deserved century; a real tear jerker:D.
