Tahir

Now that Roelof has performed well, and Botha is as consistent as ever, will the selectors still see what Tahir can do.... ? Think they should??

You can never have too much talent in the team:). They should try him out as well so in the event of any injuries they still have the option of two spinners in the team.

Tahir is a better four day/test bowler than these two, the same goes for harris. Tahir and Harris for tests and both and van der merwe for odi's.

Really how do you know how roelof would do in the longer version of the game?

Why can we not have 3 spinners? If they can bat imagine a spinners heaven of pitch with 3 good okes operating. Yes crazy i know.

I feel the current team is probably one of the best we have ever been able to field.

Batting up to nr 10 (nr 11 if steyn has anything to say :p)
6 bowlers (Kallis, steyn, Parnell, vd Merwe, A. Morkel, botha) and a part timer: Duminy

Thats effectively 7 bowlers and 7 good batsmen (smith, gibbs, kallis, duminy, AB, boucher,A morkel) and 3 more(Botha, vd Merwe, Parnell) who can actually bat and score a fifty if not a hundred.

And also with this team we have a couple of hard hitters coming in at the end to pick and choose from.

Ps and we have a left arm swing bowler (something I have been wanting to see for for the last 6 years).

Of course they should see what he can do, but it'll have to be pretty impressive to unseat either Botha or vd Merwe. :D

Who'd have thought just a year ago that we'd be saying this? :D Even better, none of the spinners competing for an ODI place are named "Paul Harris".

Based on the fact that he only plays for the titans we they play 3 spinners. Harris and Tahir are always ahead of him for the super sport series. Roelf gets most of his wickets by yorking batsmen who try and advance and hit him out of the park. That type of dismissal doesn't happen often in fc games but is common in odi's.

He is a better odi bowler than a fc bowler. Just like botha he doesn't have the variety to bowl out top class batsmen in the fc game. Both are great at keeping runs down but they aren't going to bowl you to victory in a fc game imho.

We actually have two lefties. With tsotsobe right behind parnell. But I agree great balance in the odi team at the moment. Hopefully the don't blow come wc 2011 like the great 1999 side. On current form it will be between us and india in 2011. Still long way to though.

I would rather have parnell there before Tsotsobe and have him groomed for the next captain after smith and AB have gone :p :D

IMO this team has more to offer than the 1999 one.

Well i dunno hey, botha is not a wicket taker but he keeps the runs down which puts pressure on batsmen for other guys to get them out, so yes maybe he is not test material.

Roelof bowls block hole balls almost every ball, the way he got clarke out was special, clarke was undone by a great ball as was ferguson. Roelof looks like a wicket machine if you ask me, more so than harris or botha.

Very balanced limited overs side at the moment, looks like Ntini's ODI career is over. He can still do a job in Tests though.

Dont count him out just yet ;)

But I do Agree he will have a tough time to come back into the side.

Not really. He is averaging 38 for the last series vs india and the two vs aus. I think will stay in the test side since the bowlers coming through still lack experience but he doesn't really deserve it based on performance.

Its actually quite shocking to see parnell and tsotsobe have slower delivers but ntini having played 10+ years of international cricket has never developed one.

His days are numbered imho.

Tsotsobe will probably replace Ntini in the test team.
Probably next year sometime.

Botha and Parnell out, Ntini and M Morkel in for this ODI.

We were getting absolutely creamed until a short while ago:eek:.

127/1 after 19.1 overs.

Will we see 438 take 2 today?:D
