Sox i think the biggest problem is we went out and looked to bat slowly. Rotate the strike and play your shots when you can.
There is no ways we where going to last the entire day and if we take that attitude now we will lose.

I think again its a story of SA not wanting to lose as opposed to wanting to win.

I dont think so, at the beginning of the session, Amla and Kallis were going at over 3 to the over, above the asking rate. Only when Amla's wicket went is when things slowed down.

No the slow down had begun and that is why amla lost his wicket, at one point they where scoring no runs at all and then amla went out.

You cannot block the whole time, you need to get the bowler thinking instead of bowling the exact same delivery ball after ball. Slow down led to amla's wicket, they had been going fine and then they started leaving and blocking to much.

I will only give it up when duminy is gone. We still have hope :)

Boucher and Duminy can push this through, come on, this is SA vs Aus. We always step up against them, the 438 game, the series just finished where we wipped them.

Just watch it.

I dont agree fully. Are you watching the game? Because from what I could see this morning it looked like Amla and Kallis was trying to bat positively, but Aus bowled relatively well this morning and did not allow them to bat much quicker, and then also managed to slow them down again.

Obviously going out and batting negatively is never good, more likely to lose from there, but I dont feel thats what we did this morning. You can only do what the opposition allows you to (upto a point obviously, but I feel that is what happened this morning)

Yup i am and they did start off well but then towards the end of amla's innings he was not scoring freely nor was kallis. I watched it happen and i was still thinking o boy blocking and leaving to much.

I feel we are going to lose this because we blocked and left to many deliveries and still got bowled out. Although i am preying i eat my words later this afternoon.

You dont agree that AUS bowled well and did not allow us to bat freely?

No we left to many alone allowing them to bowl well.

When your playing defensive the bowler just needs to hit his area's and it looks like they bowling well, when you bat positive his line and length gets disrupted.

Allow the aussies to bowl their line and play defensive the whole time and your asking to go out if you ask me. You need to rotate strike, i cannot stress how important rotating strike is even in 5 day cricket.

ya, dont worry, I know my cricket, rotating strike is important

Agree up to a point, but think Aus did do well to force us (Kallis and Amla) onto the back foot and they probably could have been more positive and tried to wrestle the momentum back. But I guess they were thinking get through the first session with no damage and take it from there? did not work out unfortunately.

Must say this is a awesome game though, bloody good test cricket. Especially if you compare it to the other borefests going on around the world. Eng VS WI and Pak VS SL.

Lunch:

SA need another 207 and Australia need 5 wickets. It's been Australia all the way this morning and all the bowlers created opportunities.

We wont be able to bat the whole day... We dont have bowlers that can stay in when needed (Maybe on a few occasions) We need a Pollock, Symcox, McMillan, etc. bowler...

I think we need to push for the runs... 210 runs

Its not impossible but standing around waiting to get out is not a way to play a game... Rather loose swinging.

Lets get a vote going.... Who says they should go for the win and start playing some shots and get the runs or who says they should bat out the overs and try to salvage a draw?

Win [1]
Draw [0]
