Great showing by the Brawn GP team:). The diffuser 3 have been cleared, but the other teams have appealed and a new hearing will be held after the Malaysian GP. Hope the new diffusers are allowed, because they sure seem to have an interesting dynamic to the sport with Ferrari and Macca not in on this:D.

Also read that Richard Branson had bought into Brawn GP.

I got to think that Brawn GP are cheating, it just doesn't seem possible otherwise. Still looking forward to the race though.

Extraordinary that they are able to achieve what they have, considering Brawn is rebranded Honda's, but with Merc engines. But you have to give Brawn credit - he used to be a Ferrari engineer after all:D.

Hamilton to start 20th after gearbox penalty

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton will start his first Grand Prix as reigning world champion from the back of the grid following a gearbox change in Melbourne. Hamilton, who had qualified in 15th, will now start Sunday’s Australian race from 20th following the resulting five-place grid penalty.

The British driver was unable to cover a single lap in Q2 after fourth gear on his MP4-24 broke during the opening stage of qualifying. And following the session's conclusion his engineers decided to replace the entire gearbox as a precautionary measure.

So with Hamilton 20th on the grid and his team mate Heikki Kovalainen starting from 14th, McLaren will have their work cut out if they are to repeat their ’08 Melbourne victory this weekend.

Qualifying analysis - so Brawn weren’t bluffing

They had dominated testing ever since their car first turned a wheel in anger, but it was not until the first qualifying session of the year that Brawn could truly be sure of their real position. Now, however, they can be, as Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello wrapped up the front row of the grid for the first time for a new team since March performed the feat in South Africa back in 1970.

Toyotas sent to back of grid for wing infringement

The Toyotas of Timo Glock will start Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after stewards found their cars to be in contravention of the rules. They had qualified sixth and eighth respectively.

A post-qualifying inspection by the FIA found the TF109s’ to have ‘extreme flexibility’ in their rear wings, thus breaking Formula One racing’s technical regulations. Glock’s and Trulli’s qualifying times were cancelled as a result.

Why do you think that a team who designs an aerodynamically better car than everyone else is cheating? This is Brawn we are talking here.

It's said to see McLaren starting at the back :( I believe BMW have a good chance of winning this season. Hamilton will be back as soon as his car problems are sorted. Watch this space!

Yes, torrents. Search mininova a few hours after the race.

Yea he was aided by alot of people crashing out haha, still from last to 4th is an awesome effort.

amazing GP, last year you would never have seen 2nd and 3rd fighting, if it was hamilton or massa they would have settled incase that what we saw today happened.

Personally i prefer drivers like vettel and kubica who go right to the end and do not settle. I hope the rest of the season is like :).

BRAWN 1 2 amazing, from the stone last most of the time last year to 1 2 :).

Didn't you also think brawn cheated?

He never cheated he just drove as fast as he could and got lucky so many people crashed and retired.

Nakagima
massa
kimi
kubica
vettel
rossberg with some serious tyre problems lol

No cheating just good fortune and reliablility and not crashing. I think barrichelo must be the happiest oke in f1 though :p

Yea i'm sure Honda are kicking themselves now. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Brawn are going to be world champions this year though. It's one race. They do have a really quick car though but i think the track suited them today which helped things. Definitely going to be an interesting season in F1.

Sad to see Massa retire. :(

Traditionally in the past when a team has dominated to the extent Brawn's did today the net result is a domination of the season.

The rest of the teams will be playing catch up from here on in. It's almost impossible to develop your car and find another 2-3sec per lap in the space of a formula 1 season... I predict a 2 horse race between Button and Barri.... what a remarkable scenario.. Who would have thought?...

Well done to Brawn GP:). Unlucky for Trulli to lose 3rd place.
