The Hungarian Grand Prix Preview - Brawn look to shake Red Bull's dominance

The big question is, just how hot will it be in Hungary? If it is relatively cool, that could favour Red Bull the way that the recent races in Britain and Germany did. If it is markedly warmer than either of these, where the average ambient temperatures were 18.25 and 16.25 degrees Celsius respectively, Brawn GP will be hoping to get back into the title fight after two unhappy outings. The current forecast suggests an average ambient temperature in Hungary of 30.5.

Discuss.

Season calendar.

Well again the new redbull parts have not been seen on a hot track, it may be that redbull are just a better package now.

Brawn better hope not :).

I'm quite interested to see how the youngster, Jaime (pronounced Heimi I believe) Alguersauri does. Although he posted the slowest time in FP1, he was one 2.2 tenths behind his team mate. And currently in FP2 he's only 4 hundredths behind Buemi. I suppose we'll have to see as the weekend unfolds.

With that out the way, McClaren seems to be competitive again this weekend, let's see if Hamilton can steer clear of the first corner mayhem and score some points.

It will be interesting to see how competitive the Brawns are this weekend compared to Red Bull.

Exciting qualifying today, Q3 is delayed becuase of Massa's accident, which was weird one, it was like he passed out behind the wheel! Sasha and Co are saying that they think he was hit in the head by something.

Hope he is cool. And cry baby Ruebens did not make it through to Q3. :D

EDIT: Its confirmed, something hit Felipe flush on the helmet. Speculation is that it came from Ruebens' car.

Wow what session, damn massa took a huge hit hey, very lucky to be ok.

Should be a great race tomorrow. Brawn's look to have lost the plot badly.

Felipe Massa had emergency surgery for a fractured skull after a freak crash in final qualifying for Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Felipe Massa receives attention after his high-speed crash in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

The Brazilian careered off at the 200kph Turn Four at the Hungaroring after being hit in the helmet by flying debris from rear wing of the Brawn GP of compatriot Rubens Barrichello.

2008 championship runner-up Massa was stunned and lost control as his Ferrari flew into a tire wall at high speed.

He was airlifted from the circuit to the AEK Hospital in Budapest and later underwent an emergency operation for the damage to his skull.

Massa is in intensive care on a respirator and remains under observation in an induced coma.

"The condition of the driver is serious, but stable," said a hospital spokesman.

Yikes sounds a bit more than a bump on the chin.

Definitely a bit more than bump on a chin. *sigh*

I feel terrible because when he crashed into the wall i got irritated with him and said i was tired of supporting him and meanwhile he was hit in the freaking head with something.

:(

I hope he is going to be okay.

Time for FIA to improve the monocoque asap!

Thick bulletproof protection and higher reinforced walls around head...safety 1st!

Look what happened at donington and now here...both objects hitting the heads.

Surgery!?! Hope is going to be okay. Luca Badoar and Marc Gene are listed as test drivers for the team, I wonder who will drive the car.

If Schumacher is at the track, my money is on him. Rather have a rusty legend driving than the other two.
