The more I reflect on the abomination of a first game against SL, the more concerned I get that we have risked entering this tournament without any real practice or preparation against good quality teams.

SA has had no major cricket since April 2009.

Australia and England have squared off.
NZ has been in SL for a short tour.
India had a tri-nation tournament against NZ and SL.
Pakistan have played a tour against SL.
SL have had about 3 months of cricket leading to this tournament.
And the club side from WI never had a chance (after being caned by Bangladesh.) :(

The host nation should have been the most ready nation!

Though west indies not in there full force.
388/4 runs against west indies in warmup match.
there was no sign of rustiness.:)

So you think scoring 388 against the likes of WI is amazing or something? I think it is expected even if we had no cricket for a decade :D.

True:D. If we were not rusty, we would have got a new world record against those guys.

We are doing pretty well nz 3 down :D. need to grab a couple more wickets though in the next 3/4 overs or we may be in a bit of bother.

Much better in the field! I think vd Merwe's catch set the tone for the fielding effort.

It is very rare to see SA in such poor fielding form, there is no doubt it was not going continue into this game if you ask me.

Well today they bounced back, bowling in the 2nd 1/2 of the 1st innings was excellent and the fielding really good, no drops. :D This is one of the 1st tournaments where SA is starting a season(usually its mid to end of) and who knows, maybe this is a better situation? Batting struggled in the 1st day slighty(320 will always be hard, lost wickets but their rate was good) maybe.. but you have see the bowling as the major fail in that game.

I think Nz is short by +/-40 runs.

SA needs to top this group cos I have a semi-final ticket at the Wanderers! :D

England must beat SL badly and then lose to the other teams. C'mon poms!

I wish WI cricket could go back to the standards they set in the 70/80's!
at the moment any team playing them is a one sided affair.

There's been talk that they'll compete as seperate countries within the next few years, so lets see what happens...

I'm rooting for the poms, I wanna see SA at the semis!

The outcome of this game doesn't directly affect SA's chances. SA need to win on Sunday when they play Eng for them to go through.

I suspect though if Eng loose against SL, they will put up more of a fight against SA.

Should be a good game though. Eng come in after a good win against the Aussies in their last match.
