Dude a runners body would react different to someone who plays cricket.

The stop start nature of the game means your muscles warm and cool, so if the weather temp drops during your innings there is a good chance you will get cramps.

The two broad theories for muscle cramps

I would like to emphasize theory but i do not know how :D.

The bowlers and fielders never got cramps...

Exactly, cramps are not something that are same with every person.

http://healthylifedigest.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-to-avoid-muscle-cramps-most-common.html

Read that, you guys seem to think cramping happens to everyone at the same point in time.

The interesting thing is there are so many reasons cramp can set in yet you guys pick on his fitness level and ignore the other 200 possibilities :D.

It could be the way his body reacts having to face 150 deliveries, do bowlers and fielders take guard every delivery? I think maybe you guys fail to see how demanding facing so many deliveries actually is on a persons body.

So many different reasons yet fitness is the only one you people choose.

Wikipedia is not a scientific source of information. Try referencing that to your Uni assignment.:erm:
The references are listed at the bottom of the page. Did your hand cramp up from the effort involved in scrolling down? :)
...but it does help that I have been running marathons, national level at one stage, for 30 yrs and have a Biochem degree.
Running a marathon by definition keeps your muscles warm. Where's the stop/start nature in that?

No...the Science of Sport analysed all the popular research out there and found no evidence to support electrolyte, temperature etc theories.

Cramps do not happen to every person...where did I say that?...but for the people it does happen to more than others, fatigue is the main cause and that is solved by that person doing additional endurance work.

...and I'm not even commenting on the silliness of facing up to balls causing leg cramps.

Very funny but irrelevant. A Wikipedia contributor (try becoming one and see if you are accepted into the fold) does not have to do a literature review and analysis in order to find out which research does not produce evidence and which does.
He only has to find one reference to support the view that he already has.
Go ahead and use Wiki as a reference in a Uni assigment or thesis and see if its accepted...not even schools accept it as authentic reference.

And again...it has nothing to whether the muscles 'stay warm' or not...do you guys know something about the nature of cramping that you are not telling the scientific world?

Marathon runners also get cramping (more than cricketers), and not surprisingly it isn't Gebreselassie, but the guy running 4hrs and stopping at each refreshment station, and as a coach of running my answer to them is the same...train better and train more....and no you can't get a runner to complete your race.:D

The bottom line is whether it is due to fatigue or whatever you wish to believe -because there is no way I can convince you if the literature review of Ross Tucker can't- cramping is not an injury.

It is not being a coward, Sri lanka could not get through on their own accord that is their problem, you cannot expect teams to do you a favour to get through.

New Zealand want to finish this quickly. They have taken the batting powerplay, after England didn't take the bowling one.

:( ... a real pity! I really wanted to see SL through. My interest is about to diminish by 1.

Typical Sassenach, they can't do anything right!

Edit: well at least the Black Caps are giving them a real hiding! :D
