An Indian colleague of mine (From India) said yesterday he thinks if we (SA) lose the SL game we will definitely win the tournament. I hope he is right!

We were off to such a great start. Graham Smith had a brilliant innings for the first time in ages. I think the problem we had yesterday was our attack when they where batting. We allowed them to run away with it.

I'm going to the game tomorrow. Won't see much of it :D But hope we win NZ

I just don't know why have Amla there, he very seldom makes a decent score and he is always very slow with the run rate.

Disappointing game, but you have to give credit where credit is due - Dilshan and Mendis played brilliantly. Medis is like freaking magician - no two consecutive deliveries are the same and our guys were completely flummoxed.

How? Who is going to bowl like Mendis in the nets?:erm:

I agree with you but the commentators mentioned that "you can watch hours of footage of mendis", nothing beats facing him. The Indians, in that test match (can't remember) when Mendis slaughtered them, bounced back and seems semi comfortable against him. So, yes, agree with you but all I'm hoping for is now that Smith and Duminy was bowled by almost the same delivery, they will be that much wiser... :erm:

Nor do I, but last time I checked, he averaged 47 and had a strike rate of 80+.
But he did get lots of runs against Zim.

So it's West Indies versus Pakistan at 14h30 today. A few questions:

1.) will the captain winning the toss be foolish enough to bowl first?
2.) can West Indies bat past 25 overs or score more than 180?
3.) will Shahid refrain being a total arrogant chop?:sick:

Why they allowed the WI into this tournament beats me. Surely Ireland or Bangladesh would have been more likely to put up a better resistance?

What a stupid post...

Whats wrong with bowling first? Pakis should bowl first, they have good bowlers, get the Windies out quick, chase down the 150 total even quicker, get some rest.
The Windies can beat SA on a good day, they have a powerful batting line up, they far better than Banladesh and Ireland put together!
Afridi has calmed down these days, just coz he made Kallis look like an idiot in the Pro20 doesnt mean hes arrogant.

Lol clutching at straws already!:p
Its still early days...
SA has it easier, the groups looks skewed...

NZ like to play in SA, England is also not a poor team.
Lets see what happens:)

I would rather play gibbs. He is (was) in good this year and the strippers could have only helped :p

Gibbs is a legend and he can destroy any attack in world cricket and sure he fails but so did amla and jayasuria, we needed him for that chase last night because we need a flyer and never really got it.

Is it just me or is Duminy still sucking on his Aussie tour last year?
Has he done well after that?

He likes batting second further into the year when there is a bit of grass, when the pitch is dry and flat it will get slower as the game progresses so the first massive mistake made by us was not batting first, the other mistakes were to follow.

Honestly an international cricket captain should be able to see the pitch has no grass and will get slower, meaning you should do only one thing and that is bat. So in all our captain started the very poor day for us then the bowlers, fielders and batsmen continued the trend :D

Blix of course we still have a chance, we need to beat nz and england, NZ worries me though.

He always bats first at centurion no matter what time of year. The ground is notoriously hard to defend at. Had we played to our full potential and played mendis better we would have won yesterday. The fact that we decided to bat second didn't lose us the game.

No but it did not help us win when the pitch slowed down. They had a nice pitch with the ball doing very little, we had a slow pitch which worked out nicely for their spinners.

So yes our main reason for losing was a poor decision upfront, they never play on that pitch at this time of year so i am not sure how smithers always bowls first this time of year when they never play on it at this time of year. Our season only starts in october or something and the only reason we are playing at this time of year is due the comp being moved from pakistan to SA.

Well they allowed the score to reach 319, whos doing was that? No surprises really, Dilshan is still in form, Sangakara plays anchor, Jayawardene and Jayasuriyah have their good days...
Smithers didnt know this?
The SL front line bowlers are below average, their 2 spinners will ALWAYS kill the game from 13 - 30 overs.... then its Slinga Malinga...
Smithers didnt know this?

Stick to the basics, know the team you playing and dont really on a good performance from one of your players.

We took murali for nearly 6 an over. So really it was only the one spinner we couldn't get away and he also bagged the key wickets which is why we lost. If the pitch was dreadfull slow then we wouldn't be scoring at nearly 6 an over vs murali.

 Nope...
What is that?
No Gaylle, Bravo, Sarwan, CHanderpaul?

Lol... my bad.... had no idea the team changed that bad....
Nikita Miller:rolleyes:

Nope, they're striking.
Bangladesh pwned them in their last series.

We scored 388 off these guys in our warmup.
