Seems the batting power plays confuses the poor Aussies...
They never seem to know how to approach them.

Edit: Am I the only one who thinks the Kiwis have the ugliest kit in ODI cricket?

So New Zealand are set a funny old target of 226.These middle of the road targets can sometimes be tricky. I don't think Australia will be too thrilled with this but at least it's an improvement from the previous game. Hussey and Clarke consolidated for a long period and looked to set a platform for a bigger score but New Zealand deserve credit for bowling intelligently. The fielding was also impressive and the body language was positive too. Having said that, Clarke and Hussey did well for themselves.

225/5 in their 50.

Go NZ!!

73 off 78 required. Kiwis are 3 wickets down and looking like they're on their way to victory.

Fow: 176/4 (41.3 ov); Partnership: 72 runs, 14.2 overs, RR: 5.02 (Elliott 37, Taylor 25)

47.6 Hopes to Broom, FOUR, Australia are on their way to being down 2-0 here, short on middle and off, he steps out and slogs that over mid-on for a boundary
47.5 Hopes to Elliott, 1 run, short of a good length outside off, pushed wide of cover for a quick single
47.4 Hopes to Elliott, no run, bouncer banged in short on middle, Elliot ducks and thinks it deserves to be called a wide as its a touch too high, the umpires don't think so
47.3 Hopes to Broom, 3 runs, excellent fielding but they still get there, bowled full outside leg stump, he's already made some room, gets under it and drives it wide of Mitchell Johnson at mid-on, he gives his chase and dives full length to drag it back inside the ropes
47.2 Hopes to Broom, no run, short on middle, misses out on a pull, is struck on the thighs
47.1 Hopes to Elliott, 1 run, short of a length outside off, comes down the track and cuts it away to deep point
New Zealand have way too many wickets in hand to finish this off. This pair has put on 35 in 33

"New Zealand is a very good one-day team but I'm very confident in the Australian team at the moment," Clarke said ahead of Friday's second ODI in Melbourne. "We've got plenty of talent, plenty of potential, plenty of youth, plenty of excitement and if we play our best cricket we can beat the Kiwis. Right now for me certainly it is unthinkable [to lose]."

Ag Shame! LOL!
