The Turkish Grand Prix Preview - a three-way fight in Istanbul?

This weekend’s race round Turkey’s Istanbul Park Circuit could show the direction in which the world championship battle will go over the next few Grands Prix. The unusual track, which runs anti-clockwise, places a premium on aerodynamic performance and that is bound to favour the Brawns.

However, it could also finally show us the true potential of Red Bull’s RB5, now boasting its own trick diffuser. And don’t discount Ferrari, the team on the rise and winners here the last three years…

Season calender.

I watched FP1, and it was a very ragged session. All the cars really struggled with grip, but when they did hook it up, they produced good pace. So these times will fall in FP2, and the "real" pace setters will be visible.

Hamilton looked good, and toped the table for most of the session, till Williams pulled their now customary low fuel run.

PS: I'm really loving the fact that ALL FP sessions are now televised live. It is going to get me into trouble at work one of these days.

FP1 is a load of hoghwash and i never look at it, how many times have williams and mclaren done well in sp1 and qualify way down the grid.

FP1 is not even close to an indication of what will happen, Fp2 is a little better but again rosberg is always on top yet cannot challenge for even 6th spot in quali. I cannot see how mclaren can do well considering it's pace.

Will be amazing if they get a top 6 quali if you ask me.

hmmm Vettel is lookin good. Seriously someone to watch! Wonder if Lewis will F.... it up again on Quali ?!? Kimi still midpack, but Sutil pulled a nice one there.... As for Jenson, he looks slow until that last lap on qualifying - as usual. Will see tomorro...

Their sandbagging is starting to annoy me. Everyone knows they are faster, and yet they wait till the last moment. Hope ONE day, some other team has a car fast enough to make them regret it.

History says that pole position always wins Turkish F1, hence Sebastian Vettel.

Form says Jenson Button; so do I.

Any race weather forecasts yet?

Track temps are going to be in the 30 degree range, so the harder compound may be better

Yup was a bit exciting with some of the over-taking though, not a total loss.

This thread is a sign of the state of F1. I believe the turkish grandstands were empty... for Bernie, it's no big deal because he doesn't make his money there, but for F1 fans, it's bad... it will come back to bite him eventually - then again, he doesn't care - wonder who's set to get his bucks when he moves on...

Well dude if shummi never killed f1 i doubt this will.

The problem is the perf gaps in all the cars, you have the brawn that is amazing, then red bull which is decent and the rest all have poor cars.

Schumi is one driver - this issue is about money and TV rights - it all makes the sport go round - take the sponsors and TV out and you have A1GP
What does Bernie care if he's on his way out? I have no doubt the name F1 will continue - it's worth too much to throw away, but let's face it - now more than ever it is looking like F1 could just simply not mean what it has for the last 60 years.
