Sony cybershot-dsc hx9v - it looks good but is it really the best ?

main criteria: image quality even in low light (like no speckling at all if that's even possible)

Canon Powershot G1 X but not sure it counts as a P&S though.

I got the entry level Canon EOS1100D DSLR for Christmas, awesome camera, works well for pointing and shooting also ;)

Nothing against Sony but why would you think this particular camera is the best? It wasn't even the best 6 months ago according to dpreview and who knows what else CES might deliver?

As soon as my ship comes in I am going to get a Nikon D4 point & shoot :D

Low light image quality should be acceptable !

Only until the D5 launches off course!

If I win the lottery in the near future I'll add a Leica M9 so that I at least have something in the cubby-hole for emergencies :)

I always thought the Canon S95/S100 was amongst the best?

If I had money, that'd certainly be on my list

EDIT : I see it's that money can buy .... so more than likely that Leica posted earlier

I got the Sony a couple of months ago and pretty happy with it.

No speckling issues that I've noticed and gps tagging is excellent.
Burst mode is great for animal shots and planes.
Video quality also great.
Uses SD cards and memory stick pro.

Its my 3rd Sony.

Battery lasts about 3 hours if you keep the camera on with GPS.With GPS off it lasts a lot longer.
I have 3 batteries so lasts a day easily.

If you're armed with a rangefinder, the least you can do is move your feet. That's funny that no-zooms seems like a bad thing :D
