2012's Top 10 most pirated movies

i actually watched most of that at the movies...missed batman though.
 
title is actually inaccurate as it only covers bit torrent and not NZB or direct downloads. Love the media sensationalism....AGAIN.

but...i did watch 6 of the 10. and 1 additional was seen in the Theater.
 
Saw this list a couple of days ago.

Project X :confused: I couldn't get through the 1st ten minutes of it :sick:
 
How many of those downloads are actually lost sales?

The studios don't earn per view, cinemas will "lease" the video for x weeks at a certain price and the cinemas have to maximise the number of views over the lease period.

Those downloads probably have very little impact on the studios' bottom line. They just use creative accounting to show that their films make losses to promote their agenda and minimise incentive payouts.

(No, I don't download movies, but piracy through torrents, nzbs, etc is not hurting the movie industry)

I think they referring to people now "owning" said movie. Problem with that view is how many people keep said avi's after they watch them, well that is if its truly about lost sales. You can not call a view as a lost sale as those losses would include people that rent dvd's and show them to a family.

Also a try before you buy culture has also resulted - I will admit that I've sourced kiddies movies from various places (video stores; youtube; friends) to see if my kids like it before I buy it. I got over 150 original kids DVDs and still add to my collection each month.

A lot of fans don't mind owning a movie they enjoy.
 
5/10 as i say with internet cost being so high in sa imho the cost of the movies are included hehe i did not pirate telkom stole your money Hollywood :D. Need new HDD HD Movies punish your hard drive
 
What the heck is Project X? I've never heard of it or seen any promotion anywhere. How on earth is it the most torrented movie? Did it just fail dismally locally?

I also did not know about it, well till I saw this list, then watched the trailer on YouTube and instantly realized why a) I did not know about it and b) why it was no 1 on the downloaded list.
