like it makes a difference
Don't worry sandman is like that Brazilian supporter who's quick to point out Oscar's 90th minute goal after Germany had already shipped 7 past them in the fifia world cup recently.

Heyneke Meyer the "unbelievable risk-taker" who contrived to play safe against Ireland, as well being the "dull Afrikaans, stupid, conservative guy” who couldn't outsmart Ireland!

In hindsight he only has himself to blame as he couldn't have scripted the future for himself any more perfectly.

Taking a lot of stick in comments all over the papers. Poor guy! Must be glad he's thousands of miles away with huge bodies of water in between.

Just in case anyone is wondering as to why Ireland have two songs, the first one (Amhrán Na bhFiann) is the Irish national anthem, however, since Ireland plays as a united island in rugby, this doesn't represent the Northern Ireland which is separate and is part of the UK. In Soccer there are separate teams (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland), but in hockey, rugby and cricket, there's just Ireland.

So, they commissioned Phil Coulter to write Irelands Call to have an anthem that can be representative of the whole team. When we play at home, we play both Amhrán Na bhFiann and Irelands Call, but when we're away, we just play Irelands Call.

Serious, Ireland & N. Ireland play as one team even though it's two countries? Never knew that, just shows how daft the split is.

It's a little bit complicated really. CGP Grey does a good video on the whole situation here. There aren't any border controls between the two countries, but Northern Ireland definitely is part of a different country. In soccer people born in the North have the choice, they can play for the North or the Republic. Generally speaking, Catholics in the North consider themselves Irish, whereas Protestants consider themselves more British.

Personally I love that we play as a whole island for rugby and other sports, it's a source of unity between the north and south after a few decades of really difficult times. Helps the team strength too, we wouldn't have Tommy Bowe, or Rory Best or a few others if it was just a Republic of Ireland team.

Dimitri taking a try conversion from quite an acute angle hits the uprights. But Ashton charged early and Dimitri gets another shot and.... He hits the uprights again!!

Province being schooled here. No more doubting the standard of European rugby. 39-15 with 15 to go.

That is the difference between us and the ABs; consistency.

On any given day we can compete with and defeat the All Blacks, but we are also capable of being utterly humiliated. Our level of performance fluctuates far too much.

Thanks. I did wonder about that.
