2015 Volvo XC90 Spotted

I spotted the 2015 XC90, in full camouflage colours, by Lagoon Beach Hotel in Milnerton this afternoon.

I believe the car is to be launched in SA next month.

At least 1 of the 2 units were plugged in & charging indicating the T8 hybrid model.

Volvo used to be mind numbingly boring. Audi is now mind numbingly boring, whilst Volvo is now sporting modern and exciting designs.

I can agree that Volvo is stepping up, but Audi is still making great looking cars. In my opinion of course... New Q7, S7, RS3, TTS. They all look very, very good.

The new TT's beauty depends on personal taste, but I think it's really hard to argue that the Q7, A7 and A3 (and any R variants) don't look dreary and dated. When I see new Audis pass by on the road I can't help but notice how unexciting they look and shake my head considering what else could have been purchased with the money.

Even the R8, while having an attractive exterior, has a comically dated interior. Audi just don't know what they're doing these days. And sure, they still make nice cars, but my argument is that they suck when you consider what your money can get you elsewhere.

Okay, so now it is only PE? Didn't sound like that before...

Perception of course. But it's a perception formed from a lot of negative feedback. I've personally witnessed the atrocious service twice, their telephonic service is the worst, my step-dad experienced it, my uncle has a never ending series of negative stories thanks to his problematic 2008 C-Class, I have friends who have sworn to never touch Mercedes again etc. I don't think I know a person who has had dealings with Mercedes that didn't endure a negative experience.

Anyway... These are the cars I mentioned in my post. Can't say the look dated.

I obviously can only attest to what I've actually experienced and had friends and family experience. It's possible other parts of the country have nice Mercedes dealerships. It would silly if I said all are bad, seeing as no one could know that.

With the exception of the TT, all the cars posted are very uninspiring. They look 'okay', but why settle for that when the competition has fantastic alternatives?

I pretty much agree with the man's list there. I think the only option I would swop would be the V40 with an A-Class with the obligatory AMG pack...

We're discussing luxury brands, so I only bothered listing luxury cars that I would buy if I was in the market in the mentioned categories. That said, you emboldened the Jag XE, which is an 'affordable' competitor to the 3 Series, C-Class and A4, whilst not emboldening the 6 Series Gran Coupe, which costs an arm and half a leg.

Well, you said that nobody would buy a Merc GT over a 911. Then you gave bad service as the reason. That is quite a blanket statement. You should then have said nobody in PE would buy the GT.

The bad service was the reason I wouldn't buy a GT. The reason most people wouldn't buy one is simply because Porsche are huge in SA and aren't likely to suffer too much from a new Merc that most people aren't even aware of.

I traded a 2012 Volvo C30 with 36,000km on the clock (R350,000 new) at R170,000
My mom just traded a 2011 Mercedes A200 with 32,000km on the clock (R340,000 new) for R170,000
My brother traded his B Class with similar KM and age for R190,000 and bought at R310,000.

The list goes on ... they're all very similar. Unless model specific ? I'm not in the industry, so not sure about the rest - but both my C30s kept up with every other car or bettered them on resale

32000km and lost 170k. Why not just keep it for another 3 years/70000km and get 100k on trade?
