Still my dream daily (the pre-facelift). I'd prefer the V12 though if I had the choice.

Mercedes to end S-Class coupé, cabriolet production in August – report

A fresh report claims Mercedes-Benz will end production of its S-Class coupé and cabriolet variants as early as August 2020.

The rumour follows a report from February 2020 claiming Daimler’s cost-cutting drive will include the axing of the S-Class coupé and cabriolet body styles as well as deeper job cuts.

According to MB Passion Blog, the C217 series, which has been manufactured by the Stuttgart-based firm since 2014, will be officially discontinued before the end of 2020.

The report claims production of both the S-Class coupé and cabriolet will likely end in August 2020, with the order books expected to close in May.

Fitting farewell? Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupé boosted to whopping 691 kW!

As we say farewell to the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupé (the new S-Class range is limited to the sedan body style), Posaidon has given the heavyweight performance car a big power hike.

Using the twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 as a base, the tuning firm has increased the S63’s peak outputs from the standard 450 kW and 900 N.m of torque to 647 kW and a whopping 1 200 N.m. These figures have been achieved by fitting the engine with a pair of high-performance turbochargers, a sport air filter and downpipes with sport catalytic converters. The software of the engine, transmission and drivetrain control unit has also been tweaked.

With these modifications, the S63 will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 2,9 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h (limited on account of the tyres, says the tuner).
