Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets custom off-road package from Delta4x4

Delta4x4 has given the Mercedes-Benz G-Class an exclusive off-road package which aims to give the capable premium SUV an extra edge off the beaten path. Included in this offering are conclusive changes to the body and suspension.

With the goal of increasing off-road capability, Delta4x4 has given the Mercedes-Benz G-Class a set of 80 mm wheel arch extensions that act as a housing for the 50 mm Bilstein suspension lift kit. This is supplemented by a set of 315/60 R20 off-road tyres from Mickey Thompson, Cooper or Yokohama.

With the suspension kit, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class now boasts a ground clearance increase of 80 mm at the front and 50 mm at the rear which brings the overall clearance up to 290 mm. With this, the approach and departure angle has been increased to 35 degrees.

Platinum Group Mercedes-AMG G63 is a 507 kW crimson cu

Platinum Group in the USA have created a 1/100 Mercedes-AMG G63, painted in an alluring Crimson paintjob and festooned with a multitude of carbon fibre parts, most notable of which would be the Brabus Widestar widebosy kit as well as their monstrous 24-inch Brabus Monoblock Z wheels.

Of course the 4,0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 hasn’t been spared the tunbing treatment – power has been increased to 507 kW, just so that you have the performance to match the visual clout.

Performmaster Mercedes-AMG G63 Packs 793 HP (592 KW) And Striking Widebody Kit

Tuners just cannot stop playing around with the Mercedes-AMG G63 and to be fair we don’t blame them as a large portion of the G-Wagon owners are pretty keen to make a statement.

Performmaster has unveiled the G805 Carbon Wide Body and yes it certainly makes a statement.

The widebody kit made from carbon fibre adds 10 mm to the track of the SUV and gives it an even more aggressive look. This is thanks in no small part to a front fascia that includes a distinctive grille with a Performmaster badge and a unique bumper with carbon fibre air intakes and a carbon splitter.

The G805 also sports a rather distinctive hood with large air intakes and at the back, you will find a large carbon fibre spoiler stretching off from the roof.

You absolutely must see the interior of this Mansory G-Wagen

Our eyes! We may never recover from seeing Mansory’s latest 900bhp G63

This is the Mansory Mercedes-AMG G63 P900 Special Edition UAE, and the interior has to be seen to be believed.

No seriously, flick through those images above. Seen it? We’ll give you a moment to clean up the projectile vomit…

Really is quite brave, isn’t it? The Special Edition was built to celebrate the United Arab Emirates’ 50th year in 2021, although we’re not quite sure why that requires LA Lakers-style purple and yellow trim. At least it explains all the embroidery.

Brabus-built 588 kW G63 bakkie, the XLP Adventure

There may be no better SUV to portray flashy wealth and a driver’s inability to engage in any off-roading than the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, especially low-profile tyres. Well, seasoned German high-performance aftermarket company Brabus has other ideas and have taken G63 bakkies from the 2020 model year and correctly equipped them with the equipment needed to unlock the G’s potential off-road ability, making the original Geländewagen proud. Say hello to the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP.

True to Brabus and their tinkering ability, the 800 Adventure XLP uses the same trusted 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 which is found throughout Mercedes-Benz range of eye-wateringly expensive performance models. Power is bumped up to 588 kW and 1 000 Nm, numbers that could come in handy when laden or powering up an incline with loose road surface.

The XLP’s engine upgrade is a drop in the ocean when compared to the subtly upgraded exterior, all of which follow function to enable this true off-road ability. The most obvious is the 49cm of ground clearance compliments of a newly designed special suspension with portal axles. It comes with 22-inch BRABUS Monoblock HD wheels which are wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-terrain tires sized at 325/55 R22 and sit beneath the naked carbon fibre fender flares. Those with a keen eye will also notice a longer wheelbase of 50cm which Brabus state was necessary to mount a bigger sized pickup bed behind the unchanged passenger cabin.

Brabus 800 XLP Superblack is a sinister G-Class double cab with 588kW

Renowned German tuner Brabus has unleashed an exclusive and sinister new version of its G-Class based Adventure XLP bakkie. Badged Superblack, the heavily modified double cab is entirely black outside and in. Well, apart from a few contrast red trim pieces that is.

This brutal bakkie is 689mm longer than the G63 wagon that it’s based on, and it features special portal axles that enable a mammoth ground clearance of 490mm.

Power comes from the Brabus 800 twin-turbo V8, based on Mercedes-AMG’s unit, but modified to produce 588kW and 1000Nm. This is enough to get the Superblack from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds, while the top speed is restricted to 210km/h. That’s impressive performance for a vehicle that weighs just a shade under three tonnes!

There’s a lot more than just software at play here, as Brabus has installed two of its own high-performance turbochargers, featuring larger compression units. There’s also a Brabus Boost Xtra sound kit for the engine’s bypass valve, which generates a clearly audible blow-off noise when the driver lifts off the gas. Another treat for the ears is the Brabus high-performance exhaust system, featuring an actively controlled butterfly valve.

As for the chassis mods, the Brabus 800 Adventure Superblack is fitted with a titanium-plated, height-adjustable Brabus Ride Control coilover suspension, which was calibrated specifically to the large ground clearance provided by the portal axles.

Brabus has given this G-Wagen pickup truck 789bhp

German tuner describes this 5.3m long giant as the “ultimate off-road pickup”

Remember the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP? Not the catchiest name we’ll admit, but it refers to Brabus’ ridiculously large, 789bhp portal-axled pickup truck version of the Mercedes-AMG G63. Yeah, it’s a pretty cool (if monumentally obnoxious) thing.

The Adventure XLP was first unveiled back in February 2020, but you’re forgiven if it slipped your mind – there were other things happening at the time. In order to bring it back to public attention, Brabus has now unveiled the 800 Adventure XLP SUPERBLACK. Shouty.

Essentially it’s a £600,000 special edition of the ‘standard’ Adventure XLP – a car that’s already undergone a fairly major conversion with 50cm added to its wheelbase, a full pickup bed plonked on the back and portal axles shoved underneath for 49cm of ground clearance. Oh, and because it’s Brabus there are upgraded turbochargers and a new ECU for the 4.0-litre V8, so it now makes 789bhp and 738lb ft of torque.

The SUPERBLACK gets pretty much every option box ticked over the stock £330,000 XLP, and combines that with all black everything. Even the jerry cans are painted to match the bodywork. The pickup bed is lined with Flexiteek – a material that Brabus uses on its boats (of course it does) – and there’s a frankly ridiculous amount of carbon fibre. Those weaved wheelarches alone add 11.6cm to the width of a standard G-Wagen.

Brabus 800 Adventure XLP Superblack Revealed

Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus has done it again. Meet the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP Superblack, a tough and go-anywhere super bakkie. While we’re growing impatient with Mercedes-Benz and its all-new 4×4 squared, this will have to satisfy our appetite for badass adventure in the meantime.

What you see is an enhancement on what the Mercedes-Benz G-Class already offers. The vehicle has been stretched and raised, and is now almost 70 cm longer than the vehicle upon which it’s based.

The hardcore suspension setup features aluminium portal axles and these give the vehicle a ground clearance of 49 cm. Yes, you read that correctly. The Brabus 800 Adventure rides on 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber.

While the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engine needs no introduction and produces a mighty 430 kW and 850 Nm, Brabus decided this wasn’t sufficient and managed to extract 588 kW and 1000 Nm. These are huge numbers, but due to its sheer size and mass, it’s not as fast as you’d expect. Still, 0-100 kph in 4.8 seconds is still very quick. There’s a top speed limit of 210 kph. Brabus claims its 800 Adventure weighs just under 3 tons.

Revealed: the SUVs South Africans searched for most in 2021

• SUVs are one of the most popular body types in South Africa, also making it the largest segment with a vast list of models.

• Autotrader has revealed the top 10 list of most searched-for SUVs in SA.

• The Toyota RAV4 was the best-selling SUV in 2021's gloabl market, but did not feature for SA.

Motorists all over the world love sport utility vehicles (SUVs). Even the pandemic couldn't deter this passion; SUV sales grew by over 10% between 2020 and 2021, and there are now around 320 million on our planet (versus 50 million in 2010).

South Africans love SUVs, too – the 2021 AutoTrader Car Industry Report reveals that SUVs had the highest number of body-type searches on AutoTrader last year – but which specific models and variants are the most sought after?

Last year, the best-selling SUV in the world was the Toyota RAV4, with 1.03 million sales* but – incredibly – it is neither the most searched for model nor variant in South Africa. Instead, an analysis of search data on AutoTrader during 2021 reveals that another Toyota model – namely the Fortuner – is the most searched for model while the Mercedes-Benz G-Class G63 is the most searched for variant.

Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz G-Class

More spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class G4x4² have emerged.

We’ve been waiting quite some time for this special version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class to make an appearance. In fact, the first spy shots of the G4x4² were sent to us back in March 2020! We assume the pandemic and the subsequent pausing of life as we know it were the key reasons behind this model’s delay.

As a reminder, the G4x4² is not your average G-Class SUV. It features enhanced ground clearance thanks to porthole axles, uprated suspension, larger wheels and plenty of accessories, like ladders and roofracks.

While it’s not going to feature an electric powertrain, unlike the Mercedes-Benz EQG Concept, petrolheads will be pleased to know that it still will feature a thundering V8 turbo petrol engine.

Recently, two G4x4² prototypes were spotted in the winter testing areas of Scandinavia and Germany. The eccentric colours remind us of the special Mercedes-Benz G-Class Crazy Colour Editions, where customers could choose from vibrant shades for their vehicles. Could Mercedes-Benz be contemplating a revisit for the 2022 Mercedes-AMG G4x4² ?

Performmaster creates 592 kW tuning package for the Mercedes-AMG G63!

The Mercedes-AMG G63 has been taken to new limits by Performmaster with this impressive tuning package. The German firm has pushed the SUVs output to supercar levels by means of stringent upgrades to the powertrain.

Using AMG’s twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 as a base, Performmaster has fitted an engine tuning module and upgraded turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and reinforced axial bearings. With these two changes, the G63’s standard output of 430 kW and 850 N.m of torque is increased to 592 kW and 1 020 N.m.

With this upgrade, the 2,5 tonne SUV is able to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4,5 seconds. By means of a Vmax delimiter program, it is able to increase the SUV’s top speed from 220 km/h to 260 km/h.
