German tuner unleashes Mercedes-AMG G63 with 582kW, 1000Nm

The Mercedes-AMG G63 already has way more power than it actually needs, so why not just give it an extra 150 or so kilowatts just for fun?

That seems to be the thinking behind this new creation, concocted by German tuning company Wheelsandmore.

For starters there is a lot more than just new ‘wheels’ here, as the company has managed to raise the maximum outputs from the standard vehicle’s 430kW and 850Nm, to an insane 582kW and 1000Nm.

To achieve this, the team fitted AMG’s 4-litre V8 motor with larger turbochargers we all as a modified exhaust system and remapped ECU.

But if the aforementioned outputs are too extreme for you, the tuner also offers tamer stages, with 485kW or 522kW options being available.

Fresh Mercedes-AMG G63 performance upgrade takes it to 1 000 N.m!

It seems that the new-generation Mercedes-AMG G63 continues to capture the attention of tuners. The latest company to reveal its performance upgrades for Affalterbach’s iconic SUV is German firm Wheels and More.

Now equipped with larger turbochargers and an uprated exhaust system, replete with downpipes and a backpressure-monitored flap, the 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine employed by the standard G63 (which CAR magazine tested earlier in 2019) has been modified to produce a whopping 574 kW and 1 000 N.m of torque.

Compared with the standard outputs of 430 kW and 850 N.m, the upgrade adds 144 kW and 150 N.m, respectively. Interestingly, the tuner claims its version of the G63 consumes “up to” 1,0 L/100 km less fuel.

In addition, the (hand-made) stainless steel exhaust arrangement, weighing “approximately” 30 percent less than the stock item, provides the package with a roaring soundtrack. Furthermore, a "newly developed" suspension set-up has been fitted.

Brabus drops 662 kW turbocharged V12 into Mercedes-AMG G63!

Think the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG G63 has too few cylinders? Well, Brabus apparently agrees, having just dropped a 662 kW turbocharged V12 into the G-Class.

Billed as the “world's most powerful twelve-cylinder off-roader”, just ten examples of this very special Brabus G V12 900 will be built.

Each one features a highly tuned version of the German brand’s twin-turbo V12 petrol engine, bored out from 6,0 to 6,3 litres and producing a whopping 662 kW and 1 500 N.m (although Brabus says the latter figure is “limited electronically to 1 200 N.m”). For reference, the standard version of this powerplant makes 390 kW in the Mercedes-Benz S600 L.

Employing a (presumably uprated) nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the G V12 900 will hit 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 3,8 seconds (seven-tenths quicker than the G63) and top out at 280 km/h.

So, what has Brabus done to the standard engine? Well, the company has installed a special billet crankshaft with longer stroke, larger forged pistons and special “precision-balanced” billet connecting rods, as well as reprogrammed the engine electronics.

Brabus Reveal Beastly G V12 900 With 888 HP (662 KW) And R10 Million Price Tag

Were you a bit disappointed that Mercedes-AMG never offered a V12 powered G65? Well not to worry as Brabus have the solution for you but you better act quick as they are only making 10 units of the G V12 900.

This is quite possibly the most over the top SUV we have seen from the tuner and that is not because of its dramatic styling either. Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged 6.3-litre V12 pushing out a whopping 888 hp (662 kW) and 1,500 Nm of torque. This monumental power is channelled to both axles through a nine-speed automatic transmission but the torque is actually limited to 1,200 Nm to ensure reliability.

The engine is the same unit found in the S65 Final Edition but how did they get such a potent increase from the 621 hp and 1,000 Nm in factory state? For starters, the V12 grew in displacement from 6.0 to 6.3 litres along with bigger turbochargers. In addition, there are custom exhaust manifolds, a new intake manifold with a bespoke air filter box, and a stainless steel exhaust (with actively controlled flaps) ending with dual black-chromed tips on the sides.

Brabus Announces V12-Powered G-Class

Seeing as there's no Mercedes-AMG G65 any more, what can rich people do to get their hands on a V12-powered G-Class? Head to Brabus, obviously.

Meet the G V12 900 by Brabus. With a twin-turbocharged V12 engine delivering 662 kW and 1 200 Nm, this has to be one of the fastest Mercedes-Benz G-Class vehicles around.

Brabus took the existing 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 and did extensive work on it. Displacement increased to 6.3 litres and there are bigger turbochargers as well as custom exhaust manifolds, a new intake manifold, custom air filter box and a stainless steel active exhaust. All that shove goes to all 4 wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Brabus unveils 'Adventure' off-road pack for Mercedes-Benz G-Class

German firm Brabus has been busy. After unveiling the 662 kW Mercedes-AMG GV12 900 performance SUV, the company has shown off this off-road-honed G-Class, dubbed the “Adventure”.

According to Brabus, the Adventure kit enhances the G's 4x4 capabilities. Included in the package is a height-adjustable suspension setup, replete with sport springs, allowing the vehicle to be hiked an additional 40 mm when traversing rough terrain.

In addition, the Bottrop-based tuner has equipped the modified G-Class with items such as a winch, four roof-mounted “high-performance” LED lamps, a robust roof rack (accessible via a ladder at the rear) and a carbon-fibre skidplate. The spare wheel cover is also finished in the lightweight material.

Mercedes-AMG G63: SA pricing for ‘Stronger Than Time’ edition

Mercedes-Benz South Africa has revealed pricing for a special new “Stronger Than Time” edition of its Mercedes-AMG G63.

Conceived to celebrate 40 years of the G-Class nameplate and two decades of AMG-badged variants, the fresh special-edition model features a number of model-specific design tweaks.

So, how much are we looking at here? Well, tick the “Stronger Than Time” box and some R480 300 will be added to the price (interestingly, also forcing the R18 000 “assistance package” to be specified), taking the total for this special Geländewagen model to R3 282 043.

You’re no doubt wondering what you score for the extra outlay. Well, the package includes a dark chrome finish for the grille, as well as a matte-chrome finish for items such as the running boards, side-exit tailpipes, side-mirror caps, bumper trim elements (front and rear), the underguard, inserts in the side protective strips and elements of the spare wheel cover.

The upgrade furthermore includes 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, which are painted a combination of matt silver and matte black, and feature a high-sheen finish. The 10 J x 22-dimensioned wheels are fitted with tyres in the size of 295/40 R22.

Outcome was planned the moment the Merc is hooked op centre tow bar and all the "contenders" are hooked up off centre.
