Mercedes-AMG G63's twin-turbo V8 boosted to 592 kW and 1 020 N.m!

Performmaster has lifted the wraps off what it bills as “the most powerful G-Class” it has ever created. Equipped with the firm’s tuning package, the beefed-up Mercedes-AMG G63 boasts an increase in performance and top speed.

Under its squared-off bonnet, the AMG-badged G-Class gains a PEC tuning module, while the 4,0-litre V8 mill’s standard turbochargers have been ditched for uprated items featuring a larger compressor system and reinforced thrust bearings for improved throttle response low in the rev range. Finally, the Munich-based company removed the G63’s speed limiter for an increased top speed.

Pricing! Mercedes-Benz G400d heading to SA in special-edition form

Mercedes-Benz South Africa has released pricing for a new special-edition version of its G-Class, offered in G400d guise.

Previously, this latest generation of the Geländewagen was available in South Africa only in flagship Mercedes-AMG G63 form. But now the G400d has been listed on the German firm’s local configurator, offered exclusively in “Stronger Than Time” form.

Conceived to celebrate 40 years of the G-Class nameplate (a similar pack is offered locally for the G63), the G400d Stronger Than Time edition is priced from R2 548 825. For the record, that's some R235 000 less expensive than the 430 kW 63-badged variant out of Affalterbach.

The G400d is powered by a 3,0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine offering 243 kW and 700 N.m (the latter from 1 200 to 3 200 r/min) to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. That’s enough, claims the Stuttgart-based firm, for a sprint to three figures in 6,4 seconds amd a top speed of 210 km/h.

Mercedes-AMG G63 fitted with lightweight carbon-fibre body kit

Remember that 1 050 N.m Mercedes-AMG G63 Inferno Russian company TopCar unleashed in 2019? Well, the firm has now lifted the wraps off a lightweight version of its Inferno body kit, equipping Affalterbach’s top-tier Geländewagen with a collection of carbon-fibre bits and pieces.

Comprising 21 different items, one of the most notable items included in the Inferno Light package is a carbon-fibre bonnet, costing €7 500 (around R120 260 at the current euro-to-rand exchange rate). The revised front lip (R49 700), new side sills (R64 180) and a modified diffuser (R46 530) are also manufactured out of the light-weight composite, as are the R40 120 door handles.

In addition, optional extras, such as a carbon-fibre roof-mounted spoiler and spare-wheel cover can be specified for R40 040 and R32 030, respectively. Although the G63 seen here rides on its standard alloys, four different wheel designs, ranging from 20 to 23 inches in diameter, are on offer.

The Mercedes-Benz G400d features a 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder turbodiesel motor with 243 kW and 700 Nm. Power goes to all 4 wheels via the 9-speed automatic transmission. Awesome Mercedes-AMG G63 Steampunk Limited Edition by Carlex Design

As if the Mercedes-AMG G63 wasn’t awesome enough, Carlex Design drew inspiration from steampunk to create an amazing work of art dubbed the G63 Steampunk Limited Edition.

For those of you who are confused as to what steampunk is, it can be defined as a “retrofuturistic subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery” according to Wikipedia.

With that in mind, cast your gaze upon the Mercedes-AMG G63 Steampunk Limited Edition by Carlex Design. The workmanship is phenomenal in our opinion and according to Carlex, no less than 5 000 hours went into creating this unique vehicle.

Bronze detailing has been extensively used as seen on the wheels, exhaust tips, side trim, spare wheel cover and most notably the roof, which features detailed artwork depicting skulls, roses and diamonds.

Carlex Design reveals special Mercedes-AMG G63 'Steampunk Edition'!

Polish automotive design company Carlex Design has whipped the wraps off the Mercedes-AMG G63 Steampunk Edition, a bespoke version of Affalterbach’s halo G-Class sporting myriad steampunk-inspired design cues, inside and out.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 Steampunk Edition rides on 22-inch alloys, finished in copper. The latter hue can also be found on the door strips and, most notably, the contrasting roof, featuring a model-specific inlay design. A similar motif is reflected in the hand-made copper-coloured spare wheel cover. Signalling it's no run-of-the-mill G63, Steampunk Edition lettering can be found on the wheel rims and brake callipers.

X-Class who? Brabus turns Mercedes-AMG G63 into a beastly bakkie!

German tuning company Brabus has transformed the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a beast of a double-cab bakkie it calls the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP (enough to make Benz fans forget about the discontinued X-Class).

The firm added a load bay to Affalterbach’s off-roading SUV, extending the wheelbase by 50 mm and widening the body (while throwing plenty of carbon-fibre at the vehicle). It’s also chucked in special suspension featuring portal axles, resulting in a whopping ground clearance of 490 mm.

And under the bonnet? Well, Mercedes-AMG’s twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 has been handed the tuner’s “800 PowerXtra+” package, which boosts peak outputs from the already impressive standard peak outputs of 430 kW and 850 N.m to a heady 588 kW and a pleasingly round 1 000 N.m.

Merc G63 Double-cab with 588 kW

Brabus gets hold of a G-Class and may just have turned it into the double-cab to rule them all.

Brabus has done the unthinkable and made AMG’s G-Class even more capable.

The German automotive fabrication and engineering specialist has applied its substantial skills to the latest generation G-Glass, in particular AMG’s G63 version, and the results are astounding

Most striking is the configuration. Unlike the standard G63, this Brabus 800 Adventure XLP is a double-cab bakkie, instead of a station wagon.

To achieve the change in body style, Brabus added substantially to the wheelbase and overall length of G-Class. The ladder-frame chassis is stretched, which results in a 500 mm longer wheelbase and 680 mm gain in overall length, compared to a conventional G63.

Brabus 800 Adventure XLP Is A Mega Pickup With A Mega Price Tag

Brabus will be displaying their 800 Adventure XLP at the Geneva Motor Show and it is quite the creation.

Not only did they add a pickup bed but also cranked the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 to 789 hp (588 kW) and 1,000 Nm of torque.

The tuner estimates that it can achieve a 100 km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds and will limit the top speed to 210 km/h.

Brabus turns the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a brutish 588kW bakkie

As if to celebrate the imminent demise of the ill-fated Mercedes-Benz X-Class, Brabus created an all-conquering bakkie called the 800 Adventure XLP and as we’ve come to expect from the German tuner, there’s a lot more going on here than just a body conversion.

Let’s start under the bonnet. The standard Mercedes-AMG G63 is good for 430kW and 850Nm, but Brabus has managed to crank it up to 588kW at 6600rpm and 1000Nm from 3600rpm. Although it is 0.3 seconds slower off the mark than the standard version, likely owing to increased weight and rolling resistance, the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP still gets from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds.

To extract the extra urge, engineers installed two brand new Brabus turbochargers as well as a new mapping for the injection, boost pressure control and ignition. The cherry on top is a Brabus high-performance exhaust system that promises “acoustic fascination”.

The Adventure XLP also gets a thoroughly overhauled and raised suspension system with portal axles. The suspension is height-adjustable via the Dynamic Select control switch in the cabin. The vehicle rolls on 22-inch Brabus Monoblock HD wheels, wearing Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-terrain tyres.

Brabus 800 Adventure XLP

Based on the Mercedes G63 AMG, the engineers, technicians and designers of BRABUS developed a high-performance pickup with outstanding off-road capability, which they achieved with a newly designed BRABUS special suspension with portal axles. This results in a ground clearance of 49 centimeters (19.2 inches).

In addition to the BRABUS WIDESTAR widebody design, the newly designed pickup bed characterizes the looks of this unusual vehicle built by BRABUS in a small-scale production run. The tailor-made rear-end module is made from steel and has bedsides made from carbon that is extremely strong yet very light.

The power source is the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 in BRABUS 800 PowerXtra + specification with an output of 588 kW / 800 hp (789 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. With it, the BRABUS 800 Adventure XLP sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph) due to the higher center of gravity and the 22-inch all-terrain tires.

The pickup bed of the show car accommodates the take-off and landing module for a Wingcopter. This high-end drone can reach speeds of up to 240 km/h (150 mph) and is able to transport aid supplies and rescue equipment safely and autonomously over a distance of up to 120 kilometers (75 miles) to areas of the terrain that not even this vehicle with extreme off-road capabilities could reach.

Extravagant supercars have been a dominion of BRABUS for more than four decades. In the BRABUS 800 Adventure XLP, there now is an exclusive high-performance pickup that continues the tradition of BRABUS holding the status of vehicle manufacturer with the German Federal Motor Vehicle Office in Flensburg.

Mansory Creates Star Trooper Mercedes-AMG G63 Pickup

They are on a roll this year and here we have a new take on the crazy Mercedes-AMG G63 they revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last year.

It has been dubbed the Star Trooper and now you can buy one in pickup / bakkie form.

This is basically a G63 truck with all the updates we have seen from Mansory before. These updates include the gray camouflage, the 24-inch alloys, red LEDs, and the carbon aftermarket parts.
