Disappointing world cup for Argentina.
Agreed, too much action in the warm ups or peaked too early, or something else entirely. Either way they're performing far below my expectations this WC.

Italy props Andrea Lovotti and Nicola Quaglio have both been banned for three matches for a dangerous tackle in their 49-3 defeat by South Africa on Friday.

Lovetti was dismissed in the 42nd minute for his part in picking up the Springboks' Duane Vermeulen and dropping him headfirst to the floor.

Replacement prop Quaglio was cited for his involvement in the same tackle.

If I'm understanding it correctly - if Scotland beat Russia with a bonus point, and beat Japan with a bonus point, and stop Japan from getting a bonus point - they'll push them out of the top 2. Ireland beating Samoa assumed, of course.

Would be a real pity if that happened.
Scotland is on 5 points with 2 games left. So they can get 15. Likely they'll go into the Japan game on 10 points and a even PD.
Japan is on 14 with one game left.
PD is 36 between the two now. It can even come down to PD.

I think Japan will beat Scotland.

It was far worse than the red that killed the England-Argentina game.

Now this is the stupid part of this banning guys for the next game comes in..

If it had to come down to coming first or second in the pool, or even more so second or third, by virtue of points ... then the all blacks are facing a weaker italian team compared to us even though the transgression came against us (and could have ended vermeulen's world cup) ...

I believe Japan will want to win. Because Jamie Joseph knew that whether they are 1st or 2nd in the pool they will either play the All Blacks or the Springboks and since they have already played the Springboks running up to this RWC they will know what to expect, more or less, being better prepared at a chance going into the semi.

From Japan’s pov they have a better chance of beating the Springboks than at beating the All Blacks.

I don’t know what is going on in that Japan camp. What I regarded as a very experimental Joseph turned out to be a strategy. Japan has an extensive playbook; they measured their opponents over the past 3 years, and have used and abused all of their backline and frontline out of position for establishing depth and continuity.

All Japan needs to do is to keep their heads above the water. They have marginally lost to Wales, drew with France, beaten Italy, beaten Scotland, beaten Ireland and have beaten the Springboks 4 years ago, held out against the English and to some extent with the All Blacks. Today, they can play for 85 minutes.

The only scalps they still need are Wales, England, Australia and the All Blacks.

Yeah, Japan will beat Scotland by 2 scores. What happens then… ****, someone is going to call it rich.

Nam to win a close one, not keen on watching that match though.
USA to beat Tonga (how disappointing the yanks have been this WC!)
Japan to narrowly beat Scotland, 7 points or less.

Rugby World Cup: Typhoon changes course, heads nearer Tokyo

According to the latest modelling from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), Super Typhoon Hagibis is now projected to clip southeastern Japan, near Tokyo and Yokohama.
This is a significant change from Monday’s forecast when the storm was expected to make landfall in Japan’s far southwest. However, such radical changes in direction are not unusual for typhoons nearing Japan, which sees around 20 per year.
Hagibis could also continue its easterly track and miss Japan altogether.
“The Honshu main islands will see heavy rains from as early as Friday, and the peak of the bad weather will be on Saturday and Sunday,” JMA official Yoshinori Muira told AFP.
Hagibis is currently classed as “violent” — the JMA’s highest classification, with gusts as strong as 270 kilometres per hour (165 miles per hour). It is forecast to weaken before it nears Japan but will still be “very strong”.
If the current forecast holds, the danger would appear to be lower for crunch games in the southwest (Ireland-Samoa on Saturday in Fukuoka and Wales-Uruguay on Sunday in Kumamoto).

However, with the storm shifting east, there is now a threat for two other huge games in Yokohama, just south of Tokyo.
England plays France in a Pool C decider in Yokohama on Saturday and Japan play Scotland on Sunday, in a match that will determine whether the hosts qualify for their first quarter-final.
Organisers had warned Monday that Hagibis “could bring high winds and heavy rain to southern Japan on 12 and 13 October.”
“While it is too early to determine the exact trajectory and impact if any, of the typhoon at this early stage… we have a robust contingency programme in place in the event adverse weather looks likely to impact fixtures,” they said in a statement.
Organisers can change the venue of a fixture or the timing if bad weather looks set to affect the match.
However, if a match is cancelled during the pool stages of the tournament, it is awarded as a 0-0 draw.
In the case of the England-France game, this would send Eddie Jones’s side through as Pool C champions and a quarter-final meeting likely against old rivals Australia.
A 0-0 draw would also guarantee Japan topping Pool A and another clash with the Springboks, whom they famously beat 34-32 in the 2015 “Miracle of Brighton” match.
But cancellation would be a disaster for the Scots, who would be unable to progress assuming Ireland beat Samoa, as expected, the day before.
