Going by the history of this forum and what seems to count here more than an actual result how well did the Boks look, im talking no look passes, dance moves, razzmatazz. Who cares about the result hey. Its all about the dance moves

Good solid win, playing a game plan that was needed to win the game. We butchered 3 tries on the first half that would have changed things drastically. Eddie Jones said it to Cheika, but he wouldn't listen, you need to play to win which isn't always playing pretty.

We won and that is all that matters, yes we played like palookas, regardless how we play, it's semi final a win is a win.
A final would be awesome regardless win or lose in the final, if we make it there and that is all that counts for me.

But castrate faf the day before the matc, that way he won't kick........

Japan should now drop back to 8th place in the world rankings. It should look like this now:

1: NZL
2. ENG
3. WAL
4. RSA
5. IRE
6. AUS
7. FRN
8. JAP

At this stage, the World rankings are very much correct. Scotland at 9 and Argentina at 10. People always complain about the ranking and how it doesn't sit right. Every 4 years it balances back out.

And so we smashed Japan 26 - 3.

:D

Next stop, Wales...and then we're on to the main event: SA vs NZ.
(...which we'll obviously win as well  )

Oh and quick "fun fact -from the SS panel:

Apparently we've only conceded 4 tries since we last played Japan -which is pretty impressive, considering we played NZ along the line as well.

World cups have always been won by defense.

Probably the best comment I've heard on Japan: "We ended their fairytale, but maybe we also started their fairytale". I hope I'm wrong but this may be the kind of reality check for Japan that squashes the momentum they get from the hype about them.

This was an amazing achievement for them. We didn't smash them and they won Ireland and Scotland. It will grow rugby in Japan and that scares the SA "pundits" because they don't like growth in the game.

Great that we won, but did we have to kick as much as we did?
Some of Faf's kicks were terrible, we kick the ball and land in almost the exact same place but just conceding possession.

Was close in the first half but our defence was solid and nullified their attack. Let's hope our attack improves against Wales.

Oh, and Willie caught one of their up-and-unders, so there is hope :p

Japan still has much work to do. They won’t win a quarter without rugby being more open in their country. They have better players tied up with the clubs because the ‘salarymen’ won’t be released. This result, however, will boost the pro side to the sport in their country. Expect more university students being signed by clubs, and also expect more Tongans and Samoans to take up bursaries in Japan.

5 players in their squad haven’t seen any game time in the RWC. Just shows you how much depth they lack, and they need continuity.

Jamie Joseph did a lot, and he only really need to hope that the new structures evolve. Eddie Jones started this; Joseph picked it up. The new competition tier, which is starting soon, by the JRFU may improve their game even more.
