+1 here
He was immense, never allowed the japs to build momentum.
Pity he didn't get his try, deserved one.

Yeah, it was a bit of a close call. These days it seems players are allowed, once tackled, to sort of spring up onto elbows and knees to protect the ball underneath them (like a bird protecting an egg). hard to judge if a player then springs forward.

What always puzzles me, the Boks get shitted on because of their style of play, but yet they have scored the most tries by far.

But when the All Flats play it is 'ooh look at the style of play'

Does one no look pass make you okes cream your pants?

You know 3 games were cancelled, right? Including one where NZ would have scored a boatload of tries.

Although it is common knowledge that every saffa couch potato has greater rugby experience, insight and knowledge than the appointed coaching team...
When to kick for territory and playing in the right areas is basic stuff that every 10 year old schoolboy learns. No expert knowledge needed.

For all the moaners about Faf's kicking:
1) It was Rassie's game plan. Blame/credit him, not Faf.
2) This explains why:

Ja, no. That's cherry picking the stats to fit a certain narrative.
The England vs Aus game is probably the worst example (best if you just want to cherrypick) and Australia was particularly poor. Nobody is saying running the ball out of your own 22 is a good idea.

I think it is half right. The team that wins the kicking game does win more often in the end. But who wants to win 80% of their world cup games? There's however more to kicking than just box kicks and up and unders.

I don't think any changes in the laws is necessary.
Japan beat Ireland and Scotland with a running game, they changed to a more kicking game against us.
Australia beat the allblacks that one game in when they got their running game correct.
NZ kicks a lot. But you don't even realise when watching them, if you watch them it feels like great running rugby.

I remember many good tries during the world cup that was scored from running almost 50m.

I get that it's our game plan, but Reinach and Herchel gets a better balance. Faf does over do it a bit. There's examples where we just win one of the kicks, there's space out wide but then faf does another box kick.

I would like to see someone actually do a proper analysis, but it seems like squidge has gone quiet. And I'm not sure of any other commentators that gets that deep into the details.

Fair points. If you've got a kicking plan, you must still execute intelligently and skilfully. Too many were just vrot.

 , doesn't look great but, at 39, I am guessing this tournament is going to be Peyper's last, maybe time to have a little fun with the fans...

Lol, regardless of whether a mock or not, that red card was spot on and the french only have themselves, or one player in particular, to blame for having to play the balance of the game with 14 men.

One of the most clear cut and deliberate straight reds you will ever see.

I dont see any one of those teams scoring 10 + tries.

Maybe the All Flats, but it still makes my points valid. One no look pass or dance move and 'the kerels' cream in their pants
