2022 Honda Civic (11th Gen)

Here’s your first look at the facelifted US-spec Honda Civic

American Honda announces ‘styling and feature enhancements’ for the 2025 model year Civic

The current generation Honda Civic hasn’t actually been around that long. Heck, it didn’t arrive in Europe until late in 2022. However, it did launch in the US in June 2021, so that’s where it’s set to be facelifted first.

The two images above offer our first glimpse at said facelift, and if we’re honest it looks really rather nice indeed. We’d expect the Euro-spec hatch to follow suit in the near future too, so we’re pleasantly surprised with the updates.

In a release that previewed American Honda’s plans for 2024, the company said that the Civic would get "styling and feature enhancements" for the 2025 model year, and that a hybrid powertrain would return to the US lineup in both hatchback and sedan forms.

The most obvious styling change is up front, with a sharper new front bumper and extra air intakes making the Civic look a little lower and wider. There are diamond-cut alloy wheels too, plus redesigned rear lights to complete the standard facelift checklist.

Pity the only Honda Hybrid is only the FIT. If it were a Civic, my wife would buy one tomorrow

Building on the success of the 11th generation Civic - the 2022 North American Car of the Year - the refreshed 2025 Honda Civic adds more style, more tech and with the available two-motor hybrid powertrain, a lot more power. Positioned at the top of the lineup and expected to receive an EPA combined fuel economy rating nearing 50 mpg, the new Civic hybrid, offered as either a sedan or hatchback, combines the fun-to-drive spirit of Civic with the award-winning Honda two-motor hybrid system.

The 2025 Civic will be available in four trim levels, starting with LX (sedan only) and Sport, and topped by the hybrid-powered Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. The new hybrid-electric models will represent about 40% of Civic sales as a key step in the Honda electrification strategy. The 2025 Civic sedan will begin arriving at Honda dealers next month, while the Civic hatchback will arrive later this summer.

"The new Civic hybrid is a perfectly-timed addition to the Honda lineup as hybrid-electric sales continue to grow, providing Honda with an important building block toward 100% zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040," said Lance Woelfer, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Honda hybrid-electric models represented over one-quarter of our overall brand sales in 2023, and the fun-to-drive Civic hybrid is a fantastic new product at the gateway of our popular electrified lineup along with Accord hybrid, CR-V hybrid and the all-electric Prologue."

2025 Honda Civic Si Gets The Canadian Heated Seats Because Y’all Complained So Much

All those complaints about heated seats and all-digital dashes are finally laid to rest

When Honda revealed the Si variant of the 11th-generation Civic, people were up in arms about features missing from the U.S. model. Canadian-spec cars got heated seats, they got an all-digital dash, but American buyers had to shell out for the Integra to get the same level of amenities. Now, with the 2025 facelift, that gap is gone.

The United States-spec Civic Si now gets those heated seats and that digital dash, but Honda’s changes don’t stop there. The facelifted car has a redesigned front end, new tail lights, updated infotainment, and a tweaked suspension to match the newly-stiffened chassis.

No fair! Honda Japan is offering a sportier, six-speed manual Civic ‘RS’ hatch

Warm hatch gets stiffer suspension, cool badges and a manual. We need

Good News! Honda has announced an exceedingly cool addition to its hatchback line-up called the Civic RS. More Good News! Said RS gets a six-speed manual gearbox and sportier suspension. Now some Bad News! It’s only being offered in Japan. Boo.

While this JDM Civic RS (cool name, huh) is not an even harder-charging version of the Civic Type R, it’s one that’ll appeal to anyone old enough to remember the lovely little Civic Type S we used to get in the UK.

It’s spun off Japan’s 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder petrol drivetrain – also available in EX and LX trims in Japan – producing a modest 180bhp and 177lb ft of torque. Doesn’t sound like much, until you remember 180bhp is plenty to have fun in, especially since this one gets a six-speed manual “with improved response” and a rev-matching feature.

Then comes a sportier, slightly lower and slightly stiffer RS-specific suspension setup, “designed to meet the customer’s driving preferences”. There are a few drive modes installed, RS badging around the car, a fetching black paintjob, and 18in aluminium wheels. Looks like… just the sort of warm hatch we need in the UK.
