WARRIORS LOSE PLAYOFF SPOT FOLLOWING SANCTION

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that the Dafabet Warriors will lose their spot in the 1Day Cup playoff after being docked match points due to a breach of the CSA Administrative Conditions.

Following a comprehensive review and investigation, the CSA Board has determined that the Warriors failed to meet the stipulated transformation requirements during their match on 16 February 2025 against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in Durban.

The breach pertained specifically to Clause 3.2.2 of the CSA Administrative Conditions, which requires teams to field a minimum of three Black African players in the starting eleven.

The sanctions imposed include loss of match points. Thus, Warriors will forfeit all match points for the match in question and Dolphins will be awarded four match points from the fixture. However, no bonus points will be allocated.

A monetary Fine has also been included, with 50% payable before the end of the current financial year. The remaining 50% will be suspended for five years and will only be activated if a similar breach occurs within that period.

As a direct consequence of this sanction, Warriors will no longer qualify for the 1Day Cup playoff, altering the competition’s final standings.

Dolphins now move to second place on the log and will host the Momentum Multiply Titans in the playoff on Wednesday.

Transformation storm: CSA points deduction could see Warriors fighting for livelihood​

The punishment dished out by Cricket South Africa for the Warriors not adhering to the governing body's transformation policy could just be tip of the iceberg for the Eastern Cape side.

The Warriors were docked off points and fined R500,000 for fielding only two Black African players instead of the stipulated three during a CSA 1-Day Cup match against the Dolphins in February. As a result of the points deduction, they dropped down in the competition’s standings and will no longer be involved in Wednesday’s qualifier.

The Dolphins, who were then given the four points for the win, will now host the Titans at Kingsmead on Wednesday in the Qualifier 1.

Under Cricket SA’s transformation regulations related to all Men’s domestic cricket, teams are stipulated to field six players of colour which needs to include a mandatory of three Black African players in each game.

I see he's top tun scorer this year. His tournament is done, so he might still be overtaken but good to see that immense talent beginning to find some consistency

My dad is spot on here haha. Hardly anyone shows up at the oval games. You know the game where stubbs scored 300? I was there and no one else was.
I must check the crowd later, perhaps college or some other schools show up at least.
 
CSA created even a bigger mess. Don't see how the warriors get to keep the amount of wins if they lose the points. In football you field an ineligible player you get docked a forfeit 3-0 loss.

Squeaky bum time these 4 day games. Warriors, north west, western province & Freestate* playing for survival. One is going to div 2.

Lions and titans will probably play the final.

*Depends on their despute regarding the warriors keeping the win in one day cup. If that gets taken away Freestate is probably safe as their points earned in the one day cup will go up.

In div 2 KZN inland tuskers are confirmed as the promoted team.

Still find it so weird to watch cricket from the keeper's side. Takes me back to broadcasts of the late 80's, early 90's.

Well done to WP though. Knocked the Titans over for 225. Quality knock from Pretorius though. Man alone.
 
For now knights are relegated. Their final 4 day game rained out . They will almost 100% resort to the courts regarding the warriors.

Titans will play lions in the final of the 4 day series.

Northern Cape heat and KZN inland tuskers shared the div 2 title after the final was rained out. Tuskers are promoted to div 1.

Last I heard the Warriors were also heading to court over the 1Day fiasco.
