2023/24/25 Men’s domestic cricket season

CSA seems to have gone to great lengths to stuff up domestic cricket going from a double to a single round robin for all three formats.

Do you know what the issue is? I thought that the SA20 cash was meant to fund the rest of the domestic competitions.

DOMESTIC T20 CHALLENGE CAPPED FOR EXCELLENCE

Tuesday, 08 October 2024

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting new addition to the upcoming season with the introduction of the ‘Excellence in Performance Caps’ as part of the domestic T20 Challenge.

This recognition system aims to celebrate and motivate players by awarding caps for outstanding individual achievements in batting and bowling. It is also aligned to CSA’s strategic pillar of excellence.

The Excellence in Performance Caps will be awarded to the Top Run-Scorer (TRS – Green Cap) and Top Wicket-Taker (TWT – Yellow Cap) during the competition. These caps will be worn by players during matches, providing a visible symbol of their excellence on the field.

It is designed to promote continued excellence, with players being rewarded based on their statistical performance. CSA hopes to foster a healthy competitive spirit within teams by recognising noteworthy performance.

CSA PUTS MEASURES IN PLACE TO STRENGTHEN GOVERNANCE AT BORDER CRICKET AND NORTHERN CAPE CRICKET UNION

Wednesday, 12 February 2025

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has today shared its decision to exercise its step-in rights under its Memorandum of Incorporation (MoI) regarding governance matters at Border Cricket (Border) and Northern Cape Cricket Union (NCC).

This decision follows challenges in meeting obligations outlined in CSA Regulations, including failure to timeously submit unqualified audited financial statements and concerns around the general lack of adherence to standard governance practices.

As a result, the Boards of Border and NCC will be temporarily dissolved, with CSA-appointed Administrators stepping in to manage the affairs of the unions for the duration of this step-in period.

Experienced former Cricket Administrators Greg Fredericks and Jesse Chellan were appointed as Administrators. Fredericks is assigned to Border while Chellan is assigned to NCC. Their appointments are effective immediately.

CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki noted:

“The decision was made after thoughtful consideration by the CSA Board and after extensive engagements with both Unions.

“We believe this step-in will help Border and NCC improve their operational, financial, and governance structures, ultimately strengthening their standing as CSA members moving forward.”
