sure its somewhere in the old testament, but Its definitely in the Talmud, in Israel you right "Matric" exams on the subject.
and always happy to answer questions on my Religion/Israeli life,
I definitely isn't in the Christian bible, but part of the Apocryphia i.e. not part of the closed canon. "1 and 2 Maccabees". The Jews also don't recognise it as part of the canon.
The rebellion was also recorded in Josephus’s Antiquities of the Jews.

The Old Testament closes roughly 400 BC. Alexander the Great all but conquers the known civilized world and dies in 323 BC. His empire is then distributed to his generals who consolidate their territory and their dynasties. Ptolemy, one of his generals, ruled in Egypt. Seleucus, another of his generals, ruled over territory that included Syria. These generals founded dynasties that were often at war with each other. A look at a map will confirm the precarious position of Israel, located as it was between the territories of the Ptolemies and the Seleucids.

Ptolemaic rule of Israel (Palestine) was tolerant of Jewish religious practices. However, the Seleucid dynasty eventually won control of the area and began to curtail Jewish religious practices. In 175 BC, the Seleucid king Antiochus IV came to power. He chose for himself the title Epiphanes, which means “god manifest.” He began to persecute the Jews in earnest. He outlawed Jewish religious practices (including the observance of food laws) and ordered the worship of Zeus. His ultimate act of desecration was to sacrifice a pig to Zeus in the temple in Jerusalem in 167 BC. Things were set up for Judas Maccabeus and his rebellion.

Faithful Jewish opposition had been an undercurrent all along, but Antiochus’ overt act of desecration brought it to the surface. Mattathias, a Jewish priest, led the organized resistance along with his five sons, John Gaddi, Simon Thassi, Eleazar Avaran, Jonathan Apphus, and Judas Maccabeus. Mattathias started the rebellion by preventing a Jew from sacrificing to a pagan god and then killing an officer of the king. He escaped with his family to the hills where he was joined by many other faithful Jews. From there, they conducted a guerilla war against the Seleucids. Upon Mattathias’s death in 166 BC, his son Judas Maccabeus took command of the rebellion. He saw himself as a leader like Moses, Joshua, and Gideon.

Under the leadership of Judas Maccabeus, the rebellion continued successfully, and the Jews were able to capture Jerusalem and rededicate the temple in c. 164 BC. (It is from this event that the festival of Hanukkah comes.) From there Judas Maccabeus took the war to Galilee in an effort to reclaim all Jewish territory. In 164 Antiochus Epiphanes died, and his son and successor Antiochus Eupator agreed to peace and to allow the resumption of Jewish practices. However, the war resumed shortly thereafter, and Judas sought and received help from the fledgling power of Rome to finally throw off Seleucid control. Judas Maccabeus died in about 161 and was succeeded by his brother Jonathan. Finally, under Jonathan’s leadership, peace was made with Alexander Balas, the Seleucid king, in about 153.

In spite of the fact that Judas Maccabeus neither started the rebellion nor saw it to its completion, he is considered to be the central figure in it. The name Maccabeus is derived from the Hebrew word for “hammer,” and he is often referred to as “Judas the Hammer.” After his death, Maccabeus (or Maccabee) became the family name so his brothers and even his father are referred to as “the Maccabees” (also called the Hasmoneans), and the revolt is referred to as “the Maccabean Revolt.”

The history of the rebellion led by Judas Maccabeus is recorded in Josephus’s Antiquities of the Jews and in the apocryphal books of 1 and 2 Maccabees.

Amazing how this tiny nation the size of Kruger National Park has everyone's jimmies all rustled lol

Even the Nazis were terrified of these okes. Iran is terrified of them. Putin shits his pants when Israel coughs. Must be pretty powerful these Israelis, almost super human.

But since super humans dont exist, it seems like we have a lot of sissies in the world who cling to their teddy bears while checking under their beds at night for the Israel boogy man.
Remarkable. They are not super-human though, they have the favour of God.
And occasionally when they are disobedient, they face the wrath of God.

true, why there is a diaspora and a scattering when we didn't listen where we were scattered to the 4 corners of the earth.
only very recently did we come back to our ancient homeland, and try to set up a state, resurrect our language and traditions, and try to build a modern state.

remarkable that there are people alive OLDER than that, who remember the states origins.

Indeed. This is why it is so important to understand the Abrahamic Covenant. Not only did it promise very specific land areas to Abraham's offspring, forever, but it also came with conditions. Both the Old and New Testament is filled with the story of how the Jews receive blessings, they are disobedient, get punished and then they repent, and are forgiven, everything is well again until they are disobedient again. Rinse and repeat thousands of times.

Brakpan is your ancient homeland? Or are you waiting for things to settle (pun completely intended) before you return to your “promised” land.

maybe the current war and the great loss of life plays into it as well,
before this Israel was divided with our leaders wanting to take more power into their hands, we had become complacent. gaza was handled, we had found a nice status quo with our enemies.

this little war teaches us, at great expense, that we are constantly on a knifes edge, that all it takes is one country to say NO to us and the entire Israeli/Jewish homeland is lost.

it will be lost, if it not for the fact that we will turn the Desert radioactive for centuries. so I don't know how that factors into the whole thing.

Not to derail this thead, but according to a leading investigative journalist (Christopher Brunet), Claudine Gay is the common thread in the Epstein, Weinstein, Dominguez, Enos and Fryer scandals:

WAIT, so you're saying the Americans killed old Archduke Franz Ferdinand? You can't just *insert conspiracy theory here* and blame the US.
The West, as they like to call themselves, that's who I was referring to,but then you know that.

They also have the favour of support from the world's biggest super power and a nuclear arsenal, which probably helps...

 You sound like someone who thinks that Israel started its existence in 1948, or the 1800s.

Israel have been kicking ass (and sometimes having their own asses kicked) since 1400BC, with miraculous military victories against formidable enemies that were far bigger in number, in a far better position geographically and strategically, and far better funded, trained and equipped.
They have won countless battles, campaigns and wars, thousands of years before the US even existed. Israel has never needed the US (established in 1776AD), and still don't need them today.

There is NO other nation on this earth with their military track record. Dynasties and empires (Babylonians, Syrians, Romans) came and went, but the fact remains that Israel has outlasted them all, and eventually defeated them all. The only explanation for this consistent success is supernatural.

Have you done any research on this, even a little? I would suggest that you do.

if you want to talk about research, you need to atleast provide references other than the bible to back up what you say
