You don't need documentation to go to the supermarket! Rational policy would be that if you keep moving, don't loiter and crowds, and don't openly flaunt the rules, nobody should bother you.
To go to work.

I guess I'll be taking up to knitting just to pass the time.

Thank you to the Ruperts and Oppenheimers, sad to see the President doesnt donate any money.

Everyone, expect a mini apocalypse/pandemonium if they is load-shedding, I expect all the people without any income to go to extreme measures. Everyone should be beefing up their security to the max, along with holy water

Hand sanitizer is the new holy water, didn't you hear?

I think its just breathing room. It's an opportunity to hit the pause button and think this over BEFORE it overwhelms us and puts us in a position whereby our only option is to react to the chaos that is erupting. I think we're in deep **** already but hopefully we can 'flatten the curve' and, some god willing, a suitable medication can be confirmed within the next month or at the very least the testing capability can be increased to ensure every South African can know their status.

21 days of lockdown won't flatten the curve, if after lockdown people just return to normal behaviour. All that's doing is just postponing the curve.

But as you said, perhaps an intervention becomes available, or people actually start paying attention and taking it seriously.

If the police or army are around and ask what you are doing outside and tell them you're exercising. What happens?
They'll either ask you to go home or shoot you on sight, Try it and let us know.
If you don't let us know i`ll assume they shot you on sight.

There aren't enough police to enforce the laws as is. Are they going to set up roadblocks on every corner? Imagine stopping motorists and pedestrians to ask if they are going to work (illegal), or to the shop (legal). The idea is preposterous IMO...

That's why the army has been deployed.

By that time the medication for the virus would hopefully be widely available

It certainly is. But the one thing it does is to make clear to people what's required to keep this thing at bay.

And that's really the point.
