Why does headline not have recoveries as well?
There is a considerable delay in recorded recoveries due to testing protocols (see my answer in the other thread), so that is not particularly meaningful, except in retrospect.

24 deaths and 2,003 coronavirus cases confirmed in South Africa

South Africa has 2,003 confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize revealed.

This is an increase of 69 new cases from yesterday’s figure announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Six more people have died as a result of the virus, putting the total number of deaths at 24.
Real figures:(As close as you can get)
Population:
For 2019, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) estimates the mid-year population at 58,78 million. Approximately 51,2% (approximately 30 million) of the population is female.Jul 29, 2019

Deaths now:
24 - Deaths

% Deaths now:
%=.0000413 % of total population.

Cases other than death:(Not all 58 Mil tested yet, or to the number the virus has gone away)
2003 cases..............This figure hangs in the air.

Ha. Fascinating experiment that they did there.
Experiment was to short, what irks me about news these days from so called journalists is its mostly regurgitation of what government gives them and the dramatization when delivering the news, its like a soapie.

I blame CNN and its current gaggle of miscreants that pass themselves off as journalists.

Or maybe it's just human nature to be attracted to bad news

our curve is so flat that the virus is as good as dead.

Most of Europe is flat and now the USA also started curling over.

My concern is a 2nd wave in Africa.
