28 ANC election candidates are criminals or are facing charges

As many as 28 names on the ANC's list of candidates for the local government elections in August either have criminal records or are facing charges.

One candidate in the Solomon Mahlangu branch in Alexandra, Chris Mabunda, is facing murder charges following the death of two Alexandra residents accused of stealing.

Mabunda worked as a security guard at the time of the murders. He is scheduled to appear in the Alexandra magistrate’s court next week.
