Hey all

OK so Telkom is phasing out WiMax as a service (offering LONG gone) and I have WiMax because i do not have copper since 2006.

So here is my dilema - i am planning to also dump DSTV (for many reasons) and rather go netflix etc etc.

I am awaiting a final answer from Bitco but i have a feeling they could not get line of site as the y guy was there a few minutes, i hear, and then left.

Next Option is Neotel. So I am happy with R700 a month. I download a movie from time to time, perhaps a game or 2, I enjoy online gaming from time to time BUT primarily i will use it at night to watch series, movies etc via streaming.

Is 35GB enough @ 5mb/s OR uncapped @ 2mb/s? I am hoping someone who is doing the same can respond.

Thanks.

I have Bitco 2 Mb/s wireless internet. For about 6 weeks.

Please read their fair Usage Policy very carefully.
I am right now in dispute with them on this topic.

YOUR Uncapped Fair Usage Policy
To ensure the quality and availability of our Internet services BitCo has implemented a sophisticated method of ensuring fair usage on all HOME SOHO and LITE uncapped Internet products.

BitCo makes use of bandwidth throttling to slow down Internet speeds where a customer’s behaviour is determined to be affecting the user experience of other customers on BitCo’s network.

Customer behaviour which may cause an Internet service to be throttled includes using bandwidth intensive protocols such as peer-to-peer or performing unattended downloads of large files. Throttling may also occur when a customer downloads at near 100% of the line capacity for approximately 1 hour.
The throttling is then automatically removed after the excessive usage has stopped for a similar period of time.

In the event of such customer behaviour being detected, BitCo reserves the right to terminate the account of a customer whose usage is continuously affecting BitCo’s network.

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure they have the appropriate package for their type of use. Business Premium products are not throttled.

Analyse what they are saying paragraph by paragraph. You will be amazed. Every paragraph contradicts the previous one and the user end being the fall guy.
Speedtests I have done in the past seven days at about this time have shown download speeds of 475 Kbs and now 647 Kbps - well below the 2 MBs that I pay for.
I will keep you informed of the outcome of my complaints. I just want to give them a fair oppurtunity to respond to my e-mail.
